150 <br />resubdivision of lots in this area have been subject to the ovmers granting the necessary widening strips <br />on Canyon Road and Oak Knoll Drive. This was apparently not called to the Council's attention when the <br />latest rezoning was approved. It is his recommendation, in fairness to the other property owners along <br />Canyon Road and Oak Knoll Drive, that this condition be applied to this rezoning. Mr. Lebsack, Assistant <br />City Attorney, advised that thio can still be done, since the ordinance for rezoning has not been approved. <br />He also called to the Councils attention that the motion for rezoning by both the Planning Commission and <br />the City Council indicates that entire lots are to be rezoned. It is his opinion that the intention was to I <br />rezone only portions of lots in this area. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the ordinance with the stipulations <br />as mentioned in the City Engineer's letter, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />' Councilman Granger asked what happened to the report in regard to the trash cans in Palo Alto. City Manager <br />Rolison said the price for these cans is ;55.00. This was put on the Tenda for one week for further <br />report. <br />Councilman Granger asked what happened in regard to the sidewalk on Broadway. In the interest of public <br />relations, someone from the City should call on these people. <br />Councilman Granger announced that Sunday, May 27th, was setas the date for the dedication of the Veterans <br />Memorial Building. <br />Councilman Granger wanted to know if it was possible to paint the traffic signals with yellow paint. He <br />passed this on as to whether or not this should be done. <br />Councilman Granger was of the opinion that when a former city official retired from service, his name plate <br />should be completed to indicate his title, and the dates served with the City. This should be presented <br />to him as a momento of his service. Councilman Granger so moved, seconded by Councilman Weiss and <br />carried. The City Manager was instructed to follow this through. <br />Mayor Royer again stated that he wante& to try his plan in regard to agenda matters for a period of at least <br />one month. Coun6ilman Granger stated that he did not believe that the Department Heads will take any <br />action on matters written on a piece of paper by a Councilman. If they will go along with this then he will <br />go along with the plan. <br />Councilman Stout was of the opinion that the items covered by the Minutes were not followed through <br />promptly. He suggested that the Clerk prepare a tickler file record the items as they occur. Council- <br />man Stout thought that the notes pertaining to the study meetings were very good and he asked that this <br />' system be kept up. <br />Councilman Weiss commented on Councilman Grangers remarks in regard to policy matters. He was of the <br />opinion that these policy matters should be kept in a separate file, copies to be furnished to each <br />councilmember for future reference. <br />The League dinner will be I -Lay 17th at Adobe Creek Lodge. The Council was asked to notify the Clerk Monday <br />if they planned to attend this meeting. <br />Claims 19173 to 19310, totaling 0108,197.36, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Stout, seconded by <br />Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Acting Police Chief Moudakas reported that the Police Department had set up no left turns at the 'Whipple and <br />i <br />El Camino Real intersection on Friday night and it seemed to work out very well. Motorists desiring to <br />make left turns to get to Bayshore Highway were routed to Brewster Avenue. Signs were installed at <br />Arch Street advising the motorists that left hand turns would be prohibited. The Police Department would <br />continue with this system during the peak traffic hours. <br />Councilman Stout reported that the sketches have been started on the Branch Library. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the meeting be adjourned to May 14th, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Meeting adjorned: 12:02 A.
