194 <br />offered RESOLUTION 2047 BEING THE RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETTMMINATION, MANZANITA-LAUREL-IiILTON <br />n <br />r. <br />STREET IMPROVEMENTS and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman,Britschgi. This was followed by <br />discussion. Councilman Granger wanted to know why Manazanita wasn't tied in with Stambaugh. Mr. <br />Jain stated that they could not contact the people to sign the petition. He further stated that all <br />the street on Manazanita will be included which has not been paved before. The motion carried on roll <br />call with Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />ff , <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING PERSONNEL RULES. The question was raised as to whether or not this resolution7as d�1 <br />satisfactory to the, employees. George Asvos, President of the Employees Association, asked that <br />this be held up so the employees could check into the amendments. Councilman Britschgi moved that <br />this be carried on the agenda for two weeks, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ELECTRICAL CODE. City Attorney Currie stated that this was a <br />approved by the Building Inspector. Councilman Britschgi raised the question as to the number of code <br />ordinances which 'are being amended. Building Inspector Kreiss stated they they were only trying to <br />bring their records up to date and also be in agreement with, the majority of the Cities in the County. <br />The City is operating under the 1941 Electrical Code. This was followed by discussion. Councilman <br />Granger stated that he wanted to bring out to the people that they voted down -the Charter amendment <br />regarding. printing of such ordinances and it is now going to. the the City $1,300 for advertising of <br />the codes. This was followed by more discussion after which Councilman Britschgi moved that the <br />Building Inspector list the major changes up -dating the ordinance since 19413 seconded by Councilman <br />Stout. Councilman r4ranger offered a substitute motion which the City Attorney ruled was not legal. <br />This was followed by further discussion. Building Inspector Kreiss stated that he was trying to get <br />9 <br />the Electrical Code up to the requirements of the County and the City of San Mateo. The Mayor said the <br />motion now before the Council was to continue this for two weeks and the Building Inspector to list `q <br />I <br />� <br />the major changes. This motion carried with Councilman Granger voting No. 0 <br />Councilman Stout was of the opinion that the Building Inspector was going to request changes in the <br />Building and also the Plumbing Code. He thought these changes should also be brought to the attention <br />of,the Council. Building Inspector Kreiss stated that they are trying to take advantage of the present <br />budget and get a part of the,code adopted this year while there was still money left in the budget. <br />PROGRESS ESTIMATE NO. 1, ASSOCIATED ENGINEERS, 121' WATER MAIN, IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,813.00. Councilman <br />Britschgi moved that this bill be paid, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />PROGRESS ESTIMATE NO. 1, OSCAR C. HOLMES, INC., PARKING DISTRICT, LOT IV, IN THE AMOUNT OF 63,915.00. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the bill be paid, seconded by Councilman Stout and earried. <br />PROGRESS ESTIMATE NO. 6, 0. C. JONES & DONS, PARKING DISTRICT, LOT VII, IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,779.02. <br />Councilman Stout moved,that the bill be paid, seconded by Councilman Britscbgi and carried. <br />PLANNING 0O1-81IISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL APPLICATION OF S..A, COTTRELL FOR VARIANCE TO kLLON A 101 REAR a <br />YARD WHERE THERE IS AN ALLEY TO THE REAR. Councilman Granger offered RESOLUTION 2048 FOR VARIANCE <br />Y <br />FOR THE ABOVE and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Herkner. The Clerk read the letter from <br />the Planning Commission wherein it was stated that there were no protests at the public hearing and <br />the Planning Commission found that this variance, if granted, would not be detrimental to the. <br />surrounding area or to public health and safety because of the alley to the rear. Mr. Cottrell <br />asked if the Council could change the variance to.a 51 rear yard. The Mayor informed Mr. Cottrell <br />that that would mean referring this matter back to the Planning Commission. Mr. Cottrell asked the i <br />Council to proceed with the 101 rear yeard variance.
