200 <br />MISS DOROTHY ROBERTS AND HER STARS OF TOMORROW won another tropy which they wished to present to the <br />Recreation Departments. This was trophy No- 39 won in competition with the State of California Eagles <br />Drill Teams held in San Francisco on June ,3rd. They won their 38th Trophy in competition in Gilroy and <br />their 40th in Pleasinton. Mickey Trujillo presented the 39th tropy to Councilman Spillers who made a <br />short acceptance speech for the City of Redwood City. Councilman Stout moved that Dorothy Roberts be <br />given a big vote of "good luck" in their coming competition events, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br />carried. <br />REPORT ON BID OPENING, CONCESSION STAND HAVrES PARK. One bid waa received from the Redwood City Merchants <br />Softball Team for the operation of a concession stand at Hawes Park. The City Manager recommended that <br />the bid be accepted in accordance with the terms and conditions stated therein. „ <br />In reference to your advertisement pertaining to the concession stand to be erected at <br />Hawes Park, please accept the following bid: <br />We are willing to construct in accordance with you specifications a concession stand on <br />a portion of property at Hawes Park as designated by your City, at no cost to the 'city of <br />Redwood. <br />We further agree to lease said concession stand for a period of two years, said stand to <br />be used only during the currant summer softball season, which is approximately from May 15th, <br />to September lst, for One Dollar ($1.00) per season. <br />We will supply the City of Redwood City with a public leability insurance policy in <br />accordance with your -advertisement. , <br />We will also be willing to give to the city any, sworn statement that is required as to <br />our financial responsibility. <br />We are enclosing herewith attached a copy of the items to be sold at the concession <br />stand, and the prices of same. <br />Trusting this information is satisfactory, we remain <br />Yours very truly., <br />Redwood City Merchants Softball Team <br />By, Gwen Rodriquez <br />Councilman Britschgi moved approval of the City Manager's recommendation,seconded by Councilman Spillers I` <br />I . <br />and carried. <br />CITY ENGINEER RECOMMENDATION REGARDING ACCEPTING STERLING HIGHLANDS NO. 5. The City Engineer recommended <br />acceptance, of the improvements in Sterling Highlands No. 5 Subdivision subject to the following conditions: <br />1. Correction of all defects in materials and workmanship which might appear within one <br />year from this date. , <br />2. Payment by the subdivider of all engineering and inspection charges due the City, before <br />release of the performance bond. <br />The grant deed to the City from the Highlands Community Club, Incorporated, for a drainage easement <br />across Lot 19, Block 24, Highlands No- 5, should be accepted by the City Council and recorded. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to accept the City Engineer's recommendation to accept Sterling Highlands No- 5, <br />and authorize the City Clerk to accept the above mentioned deed, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. j <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMEND APPROVAL REAR_ YARD VARIANCE FROM 20 TO 15 FEET, LOT 3, BLOCK 2, ROBELET <br />SUBDIVISION. DENY FRONT YARD VARIANCE FROM 20 TO 15 FEET, LOTS 15 23 AND 3, BLOCK 2, ROBELET SUB" ' <br />DIVISION. The Clerk read the letter submitted by the Planning Commission. Councilman Herkner offered <br />RESOLUTION 2055 FOR A VARIANCE FROM A.20 FOOT REAR YARD SETBACK TO A 1.5 FOOT SETBACK ON LOT 3, BLOCK <br />2, ROBELET SUBDIVISION and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried on roll call. <br />Councilman Stout moved to uphold the Planning Commission's recommendation and deny the front yard set- f'fY <br />back from 20 feet to 15 feet on Lots 1, 2, and 3, Block 2, Robelet Subdivision,.seconded by Councilman ff <br />Herkner and carried. <br />CITY ENGINEER RECOMMENDATION ACCEPTANCE IMPROVEME, NTS IN TERRACE SHOPPING CENTER. The Clerk read the. f ollowing <br />letter submitted by the City Manager: <br />It is our recommendation that improvements in Terrace Shopping Center be accepted by the City. <br />
