TO BAYSHORE HIGHffAY. The Clerkxead the following letter from the Division of Highways: <br />Reference is made to your letter of August 17, 1956s inquiring as to the status of our <br />studies of the Five Points intersection and the extension of Spruce Street Between <br />El Camino Real (Route•2) and the Bayshore Freeway (Route 68)• <br />As stated at a meeting in this office on November 5, 1954, the priority of other work <br />has made it impossible for us to undertake a comprehensive study of these problems. <br />Studies of State Highway Route 107 have now been authorized, from Woodside to the <br />Bayshore Freeway, and are expected to be in progress later this year. <br />The study will include the problem of Five Points and consideration of the best <br />highway routing between Five Points and the Bayshore Freeway. <br />The design for the Five Points intersection has not as yet been determined and consequently <br />no 'estimate of cost.is available. <br />Since the site is the intersection of two State routes it is to be expected that <br />the State will bear the entire cost of construction of whatever type of facility is <br />required. <br />.The extension of Spruce Street easterly to the Bayshore was planned by the City and ' <br />it was at the request of the City that the interchange at the Bayshore Freeway was <br />revised to provide a connection to this proposed street rather than to Chewtnut <br />Street, as originally planned. Improvement to Spruce Street under its existing <br />status as a city street, would be a city responsibility. <br />283 <br />Councilman Herkner asked that the newspapers please make note of this. <br />Councilman Britschgi stated that next Monday night, September 24th, Assemblyman Dolwig is going to have a study <br />meeting on Highway Studies. He seed permission to attend this meeting. Permission was granted. <br />PERSONNEL BOARD RECOMMENDATION REGARDING SALARY RANGE PARK, SEWER,'STREET AND WATER LEADINGMEN. The Clerk <br />read the letter wherein it was stated that after interviewing the leadingmen and representatives of the <br />Water and Street Departments, the Board found that leadingmen work to, and are responsible for supervision <br />of job performance of the'Equipment Operator II, and therefore, they recommend that a salary differential <br />between the two types of positions should be'establi.shed. The Personnel Board recommends that the salary <br />range for the positions of Park, Sewer,'Street and Water Leadingmen be advanced from range 30 to range 31. <br />Councilman Stout moved approval of the recommendation of the Personnel Board, seconded by Councilman Britscbgi. <br />The question was raided if this would mean a change in the salary ordinance. Councilman Stout added to . <br />his motion that the City Attorney prepare the necessary amendment. This was agreed to by the second and <br />the motion carried. <br />LEAGUE DINNER, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th, 7:15 P. M., Bobs on Broadway, Burlingame. 'Councilmen Stout, Granger, <br />Weiss and Mayor Royer will attend the meeting. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OA= TRACT SUBDIVISION SUBJECT TO: <br />1. Large lot marked "Not a part of this subdivision's be included in subdivision. <br />2. All engineering requests of the City Engineer be met. <br />3. Tract name be changed to avoid conflict with Oakleigh Tract. <br />4. Street be constructed to tie into Virginia Street and it contain 34 feet of paving. <br />5. Curbs, gutters and sidewalks (except sidewalks in front of large lot) required along both <br />sides of the entire length of Rosemary lane. <br />The Clerkxead the following letter submitted by Co E. Randlett, Engineer: <br />Gentlemen: <br />I am submitting for you consideration the Tentative Map of Oakley Tfiact. This map <br />has been revised and conforms with all requirements of the Subdivision Ordinance. The <br />map was approved by the Planning Commission and it is not required to submit it to <br />the Council for approval; however, since there has been so much discussion regarding <br />the street location in this subdivision, we wish to get the Council's approval before <br />proceeding with the expense of the final map and improvement plans. <br />One of the objections of the property owners, who will have corner lots on <br />Virginia Avenue when Rosemary Lane is constructed, is that their houses will be too close to <br />the new sidewalks. In order to overcome this objection the Planning Commission recommended <br />that the sidewalks along the sides of these lots be constructed contiguous to the curb and t <br />4 feet wide so that the edge of the sidewalk will,be 10 feet from the houses. This will <br />provide the usual distance between the sidewalk and houses on the sides of corner lots. <br />The subdividers have proposed seve4al different layouts on this property in order <br />to provide the best subdivision from a planning point of view, and also to meet the wishes <br />
