He asked that the City Manager look into the matter of cevering.of the creeks <br />between Middlefield Road and the railroad track, and he is also to contact the property owners and negoteate <br />with tem as to the cost of covering the creek on their property. City Manager rolison stated that the fore- <br />most problem is the financing of this program. <br />•.., i <br />The Mayor announced a study meeting for Wednesday at 8:00 P.M.. <br />INTRODUCE ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING POSITION OF ASSISTANT TO CITY MANAGER. No change has been made in the pay scale <br />as the title "Assistant to the City Manager" is merely.being•substituted in lieu of the designation <br />"Administrative Assistant" with the pay remaining•the same, $519.00 per month. This was followed by dis- <br />cussion in regard to salary range and a fixed salary. Councilman Granger introduce ordinance to amend <br />Ordinance No. 741 relating to the salary plan for employees of the City of Redwood City, to establish the <br />position of Assistant to the City Manager and to delete therefrom the office of Administrative Assistant, <br />seconded.by Councilman Stout and carried on roll call, Councilman Britscbgi voting NO. <br />APPLICATION TERRENCE HEAVEY CO. TO CONDUCT 3 DAY AUCTION, GENERAL FURNITURE COMPANY, 1550 El CAMINO REAL. In <br />his letter Mr. Heavey stated that his firm had been asked to conduct a three-day auction for General <br />Furniture Company, January 5, 6 and 7,.1956. Their firm is quitting business and must vacate by January <br />15, 1956. He further stated that his previous auction license expired July".t1, 1955. He enclosed a renewal <br />fee of $50.00 per instructions and a $5,000 bond. The inventory would be turned in in` approximately six <br />days. . <br />Councilman B,ritschgi stated that this was the same place that had asked for a "close out sale" just prior to <br />the Christmas Season. Councilman Granger reiterated the problem and situation as it appeared at the last <br />Councilmeeting. This was followed by discussion. City Attorney Currie clarified the ordinance -in regard <br />to this situation wherein Mr. Heavey had conducted an auction in the City before and was renewing his license. <br />However, because of the wording of the ordinance the owners of the store will. have to file an application <br />with the Council. They in turn -can hire Mr. Heavey to conduct the auction for them as he will have a city <br />liceneee Mr. Heavey will have to pay an additional fee of $25.00 a day to conduct the sale.
