Mre Ernest Riff appeared before the Council and explained <br />that the County would not allow him to have a septic tank. He had applied for annexation but the Planning <br />Commission turned him down because they said it would create an island. This was followed by discussion <br />after which Councilman Spillers moved that the matter be referred to the City Manager and City Engineer <br />for a report in one weeks seconded by Councilman Stout* Councilman Granger asked Mr. Riff if he would <br />agree to paying for the sewer and allowing people to later tie into his lines he in turn to be reimbursed <br />for the tiein. Mr. Riff agreed to this. Motion carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION CF KOHNE, DURHAM AND PETERS TO RESUBDIVIDE PORTIONS <br />OF LOT 6, BLOCK 24, OAK KNOLL MANOR,,(Canyon Road) SUBJECT TO DEED FOR WIDENING AND SEWER EASEMENT. The <br />Clerk reported that he was in receipt of the deeds. Councilman Spillers.moved approval of the Planning � <br />-Commission's recommendation,,seconded,by Councilman Britschgi and carriede Councilman Spillers moved <br />authorization of the City Clerk to accept the deeds, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />TRANSFER $600 FROM UNBUDGETED RESERVE TO RECONSTRUCT AND RELOCATE "CLIMATE BEST" SIGN AT CLAREMONT AND EL CAMINO <br />REAL. Due to the fact that the Standard Oil Company is remodelling their servicestation at Clarement <br />and E1 Camino Real, it will be necessary for the City to relocate and reconstruct the "Climate Best by <br />Government Test" sign which is on their property, to conform to their new layout. Councilman Britschgi <br />offered resolution and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Councilman Granger was of the <br />opinion that the sign could be moved to the sidewalk at the curve of Claremont Avenue. The•Pe G. & Ee <br />would have to move their lines and poles. This was followed by discussion in regard to moving the sign <br />and the P. G. & E. moving their power lines. Councilman Britschgi withdrew -his motion. <br />Councilman Jones was of the opinion that maybe this sign could be put on the Southern Pacific propety at <br />the entrance to the City. Mrs. Vera Eskin was of the opinion that the sign could be put up at Bayshore and <br />Main Street. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that,the sign could be put at the sidewalk property <br />line on E1 Camino Real at the Standard Station.. This was followed by more discussion. Councilman Britschgi <br />moved that this matter be turned over to the City Beautification Committee for their recommendation to <br />the Council, seconded by Councilman Royer. Mrs. Eskin reported that the meeting will be held next Tuesday <br />in the Chamber of Commerce building. ,Motion carried. <br />AUTHORIZE CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT DEED ON CANYON ROAD. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Clerk be authorized <br />to accept the deed of Emily R. Goldsmith f or a protion of Lot 3, Block 30, Oak Knoll Manor, seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />CLAIM OF EVELYN ROJO FOR ALLEGED INJURIED, FALL OVER METER BOX AT 620 PINE STREET. City Attorney stated <br />th4t this was not a claim against the City. The claim has already been filed, this is a complaint for <br />damages and no action should be taken by the Council. Councilman Spillers referred the natter to the <br />insurance carrier, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. r <br />CITY ENGINEER JAIN RECOMMENDED ACCEPTANCE OF STERLING HIGHLANDS NO. 5 SUBDIVISION IMPROVEMENTS subject to the 4 <br />following conditions: <br />1. Satisfactory realignment and shaping of creek channel adjacent to the Temple Beth Jacob <br />property between Fernside Street and Alameda de las Pulgas, before release of the performance bond. <br />24 Correction of all defects in materials and workmanship which might appear within one year <br />from this date. <br />3. Payment by the subdivider of all engineering and inspection charges due the City, before <br />release of the performance band. <br />Councilman Spillers moved approval as recommended by The City Engineer, seconded by Councilman Stout and <br />carried. <br />TRAFFIC COMMITTEE LETTER REGARDING PROPOSED HIRING OF TRAFFIC EXPERT. The Clerk read the following letter: <br />, <br />"The matter referred to the City Manager regarding the possibility of hiring a Traffic Expert <br />was discussed at the meeting of the Traffic Fact -Finding Committee this date. <br />
