357 <br />Councilman Weiss stated that according to reports in the press,,the County Board of SupertA.sors has under <br />consideration an ordinance regulating signs and bill boards. He stated that it has been recently <br />indicated that the Beard may eliminate provisions that would prohibit billboards along the freeways in <br />San Mateo County. It was his understanding that this matter would be considered at their meeting on <br />December 11th. Councilman Weiss moved,that the City Attorney be instructed to appear before the Board of <br />Supervisors and present the Council's respects and indicate their objections to permitting billboards along <br />any highway or freeway within the city limits and the unincorporated areas. There wasn't any second to <br />this motion which was followed by discussion. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the Council reaffirm their stand on billboards and the City Manager see that <br />this gets to the board of supervisiors by Tuesday, seconded by Councilman Weiss. This Dollowed by <br />discussion after which the motion carried. <br />Councilman Stout reported on the Branch Library and stated that the frame and rafters were up. Councilman Stout <br />moved that a temporary sign be put up stating that this is the branch library and asked that the City Manager <br />contact the School for permission toerect the signi seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried., <br />Councilman Stout spoke about the hedge which blocks the view of traffic at -the intersection of Woodside and <br />Hudson Street. Councilman Stout moved that this be referred to the City Manager, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi and carried. <br />The City Attorney reported, under the condition which the City received the money for the Branch Library, that <br />a permanent placque in the memory of Herman Schaberg should be erected. Councilman Britschgi moved that <br />this be referred to the library Board, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that the meeting be adjourned, second by Councilman Herkner and carried. Rolison, City Attorney Robert Costello, City Engineer Glenn M. <br />Jain, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Police Chief William L. Faulstich, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Assessor - <br />Auditor John J. Brophy, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, Park and <br />Recreation Commissioner Hanley, Planning Commissioner Carl Sjoberg, Assitant to City Manager L. A. Kimball <br />and Account -Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />The minutes of November 19th and 26th and December 3rd were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Spillers, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />;tel Robert Parsons, Junior Chamber of»Commerce, presented the Courtesy Driver of the Week Award to Jerry Martin, <br />a student participating in the economy run contest. Jerry also won the over-all economy run. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to drop from the agenda the hearing on Benjamin Miller's appeal to the Planning <br />Commissions denial of variance to construct garage at corner lot, 765 Upland Road, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi and carried. <br />CITY TREASURER NOTIFICATION OF BANKS on increase to 2% on 90 day Time Deposit.
