Councilman Spillers offered introduction of the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. Councilman Herkner moved that the Clerk look into the matter of adding another classification to the list, that of meter reader, the Clerk to notify the Personnel Board and ask that they review range 24, meter reader, seconded by Councilman Spillers and. carried, FURTHER DISCUSSION, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS DENIAL OF REQUEST TO REMOVE TREES ON EL.CAMINO REAL. Councilman Granger stated that, he will try to make a trip to Sacramento or he will try to contact Assemblymen Britschgi and see if he could carry on. Councilman Weymouth stated that he had contacted a State Man andMr. Allyn Beals was supposed to contact this same State Main. The. Committee reported progress. REPORT ON STATUS OF PROPOSED TIRE PROTECTION, DUMBARTON -FAIR OAKS AREA. The Clerk read the report. Councilman Granger moved that the report be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Stout and carrie.'d. Gentlemen: Under date of October 15, 1956, this committee submitted a complete report on the subject of Fire Service for the Dumbarton -Fair Oaks Area. The report in question was accepted by the Council at its meeting of November 5, 1956. Another meeting to discuss this committee's report with the people of the area was held on November 7, 1956. At this meeting the Council was informed that the residents of the area were to hold a meeting the week of November 12 - 16. That the Redwood City Council would be infBrmed of future developments at the proper time. While tkis committee has to date received no formal report of further proceedings, through contacts with Mr. John Y. Connors, and reports in the press, it has been possible to observe the progress of proceedings to form the Fire District. In fact, it is presently understood that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County has taken final<adtion, to appoint a Board of Directors, is now in process. Undoubtedly after all legal action by proper authorities to formalize the establishment of the district has been completed, the Board of Directors of said District will communicate with the Redwood City Council and proceed with negotiation of a formal agreemtn or contract. Councilman Stout reported that he and Councilman Granger look over the building. They felt that it would be well to check with the Service Clubs and Groups that are interested in Youth Activities and ask for their help. The Peninsula Group II of the Civil Air Patrol Cadets wrote a letter in response to the request made at the meeting with Councilmen Granger and Stout in regard to securing the Old Veteran's Building for a meeting place. The Cadets are supervised at all time, and all covered by a blanket insurance policy carried by the California Wing Hqa., Presidio, San Francisco, hospitalization insurance for senion members while at the CAP meetings and authorized Air Force Measures. The group want the use of the building on Friday nights. Councilman Stout moved that the report be accepted and that this Group be allowed to use the building on the night indicated on a month to month basis, seconded by Councilman Spillers, Councilman Granger stated that the City should not be held responsible and suggested that the add to the motion subject to suitable insurance and agreement. This was included in the motion. Councilman Granger added that this should be subject to the agreement being agreed to by the proper department heads. The motion carried. FURTHER CONSIDERATION ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING NEW SEVER RENTAL CHARGES. The City Attorney recommended that this be referred to him for proper agreemtn or ordinance. Councilman Spillers moved to accept the City Attorney's recommendation, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. The Mayor appointed Councilman Herkner to the committee to work with the City Attorney on this matter. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ANNEXATION CHARGES, HIGHLANDS TERRITORY NO. 7. The City Attorney explained that the resolution established the sum of $52,800 as the value to the territory of existing municipal improvements paid for by city tax payers and established a period of ten years for collection of that sum.
