Councilman Herkner moved that this matter be referred to the Park and Recreation Commission. Recreation Commissioner Hanley stated that they had written a letter approving the improvements. The Clerk stated that to date he had not received the letter. Councilman Herkner withdrew his motion. Councilman Spillers moved that this matter be carried on the agenda for one week to give the City Engineer time to check the possible cost of the bridge, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. COMMUNICATION FROM CITY TREASURER AND CITY AUDITOR REGARDING DEPOSIT OF PUBLIC MONIES IN LOCAL BANKS. The Clerk read the letter wherein it was stated that the City has been approached by representatives of the local banks who are not enjoying any of the City's banking business and are of the opinion that they should be given a share of the idle money. If the Council desires to split this business between the five banks within the City, the Treasurer and Auditor recommended the following, subject to the interest rates the City is now receiving; American Trust Company $1502000 First Western Bank 1503000 Bank of America, California -Broadway Branch 150,000 Bank of America, Broadway -Jefferson 175,000 Wells Fargo Bank 175,000 In view of the necessary ninety day notice for withdrawal, the above change could not become effective until September 15, 1957• Councilman Spillers moved approval of the recommendation and.asked that k letter be sent to all the banks asking for separate quotations, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. CONTINUATION PUBLIC HEARING 'ON FARM HILLS BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS. The City Engineer stated that his estimate should be changed to $57,768.51. The bid received from Oddstad Homes included bounding costs which are not usually included in the bid. By adding that amount to the engineer's estimate it brings the change is the estimate to the $57,768.51 I figure. Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. Councilman Granger moved that all protests on record be overruled, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 2268 ORDERING IMPROVEMENTS FARM HILL BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried on roll call. Councilman Herkner offered RESOLUTION 2269 AWARDING THE CONTRACT ON FARM HILL BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call. PUBLIC HEARIPG ON PLANNING COMPIISSION'S RECOMMENDATION TO DENY WHITMORE, GERSMIER, ET. AL. REQUEST TO REZONE WELLESLEY PARK AREA FROM R-1 TO R-3. The Clerk read the letter from the Planning Commission wherein they referred the matter to the City Council without a change in its previous recommendation. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. Chester Lebsack, attorney representing Mr. & Mrs. Gersmier, spoke in regard to the en- forcement of the restrictions. He spoke about the proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance and the amendment to set an R -3-G zoning restriction in the area and he asked that this matter be postponed until such time as the R -3-G zoning is put in effect. He asked that this be postponed for 30 days. This was agreed to by Mr. Thorpe, attorney for the Whitmores. After the adoption of R -3-G zoning by the Council they will make a request for R -3-G zoning of the area in order to enforce the restrictions.
