I <br />7 <br />a <br />u <br />61 <br />RESERVE TO ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT SUPPLIES AND SERVICES TO COVER THE COST CF INSTALLING TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT <br />JEFFERSON AND HUDSON STREET and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call <br />with Councilman Britschgi voting. NO. Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion that overhead lights could be <br />installed at much less expense. <br />RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING x$600 TO COVER COST CF RELOCATING "CLIMATE BEST" SIGN. Councilman Spillers offered <br />RESOLUTION 1975 TRANSFERRING x$600 FRO1vI UNBUDGETED. RESERVE TO THE ELECTRICAL DEPART1..IENT SUPPLIES AND SERVICES <br />TO COVER COST OF RELOCATING "CLIMATE BEST" SIGN and moved its adoption, sdconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Councilman Stout stated that the bright lights from the service station tended to dim the reading of the <br />sign, and he was of the opinion that the sign should be raised. City Engineer Jain stated that he did not <br />recommend extending the'sign to any great height because of the size and weight of the sign. This was <br />.followed by discussionafterwhich the motion carried on roll call. <br />PLANNING COWAISSION RECOMMEND GRANTING USE PERMIT AND VARIANCE TO MAX LIVCHITZ, ALGIERS MOTEL, RESTAURANT AND <br />COCKTAIL BAR SUBJECT TO PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVAL CF PARKING LAYOUT, AND SUBJECT FURTHER TO PROPOSED <br />CARLOS AVENUE PLAN LINES. City Attorney Currie stated the only thing before the Council was the variance <br />and not the Use Permit. Michael Aaronson, representing Algiers Motel, stated that they were protesting the <br />Use Permit condition of 20' set—back. This was followed by discussion after which Mr. Aaronson submitted a <br />letter appealing the decision of the Planning Commission requiring the Algiers Motel to set back 20 feet <br />from its southerly property line as a condition to granting the use permit for a restaurant, banquet hall <br />and cocktail lounge to be constructed on the premises. Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing <br />be set for one week, February 6th, seconded by Councilman Britschgi who suggested that they confer with both <br />. parties interested in this matter before coming up before the Council. It was agreed that they would meet <br />Wednesday, February 1, at 9:30 p.m.. Motion carried. (Study meeting will convene at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday <br />February lst.) <br />City Attprney Currie was of the opinion that the matter of the variance should be held over until the next <br />Council meeting. Councilman Spillers moved that the matter of the variance be held over for one week, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Mr. Aaronson asked that the Council consider this matter tonight. This <br />was followed by discussion in regard to whether these. should be considered separately or as a unit. Motion <br />carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED DENIAL P. PACINO REQUEST FOR VARIANCE TO ALLON LESS THAN 15' REAR YARD AND GARAGE <br />LESS THAN REQUIRED SIZE (1315 Hopkins Avenue). Councilman Stout moved approval of the. Planning Commission's <br />recommendation to deny request, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMM ENDED DENIAL OF GARETTO REQUEST FOR VARIANCE TO ALLCN 10' SETBACK IN FRONT OF LOTS <br />17 & 18, BLOCK 2, MC GARVEY'S SUBDIVISION (100 Block Redwood Avenue). Councilman Royer moved approval of <br />the Planning Commission's recommendation to deny, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL CARL ROSENE APPLICATION TO REZONE LOTS 5 to 8, BLOCK 49, CENTRAL PARK <br />#2 FROM R-1 TO R-3. SUBJECT TO DEEDS, 5' FOR WIDENING JEFFERSON AVENUE AND OUTSIDE 10' RADIUS CURVE ON <br />NORTHWEST CORNER OF LOT 8. Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be set for February 14th, <br />seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />PLANNING COINVIISSION RECOADEND DENIAL APPLICATION SHUTTERA & STEDMAN TO REZONE LOTS 1 to 6, BLOCK 2, REESE <br />SUBDIVISION (600 BLOCK REDVIOOD AVENUE) FROM R-2 TO R-3. Councilman Royer moved that the public hearing be <br />set for February 14th, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMEND APPROVAL CFFICIAL PLAN LINE FOR WIDENING CF JEFFERSON AVENUE FROM EL CAMTNO REAL TO <br />UPTON STREET. Councilman Britschgi moved that the public hearing be set for March 5th, seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers. After discussion as to the number of public hearings, Councilman Britschgi amended the <br />date to March 12th. Motion carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF PLAN LINES FOR ROSE AVENUE. Councilman Spillers moved that the public <br />
