M
ely $75,000.
Iwl
This was followed by a lengthy discussion in regard to trucks operating on XcGarvey
Street, after which Mr. Frahm stated that he would see to it that the street will be
barricaded where it enters Farm Hills Subdivision. Councilman Stout asked if the plans
were considered for a proposed fire house. Chief Lodi stated that the City Engineer has
a letter on file in regard to this matter. This was followed by a lengthy discussion
in regard to sidewalks, streets and set back lines.
• Councilman Granger asked if Oddstad Homes would be willing to pay a fee for annexation
or subdivision if the Council approved the map tonight, the fee to be set after receiv-
ing a report from the City Engineer. It was decided that this was not a fair question
especially by the representatives from Oddstad Homes who•feel that charges 'should not
be made on Map No. 1 due to the fact that this area has been in the City for the past
number of years. They did agree to consider the matter of fees in regard to area #r2.
The motion carried on roll call with Councilman Stout voting NO. The mayor ased that
reports be received from the City Attorney and the City Manager in regard to suggested
amounts for fees on annexation and subdivisions.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL JAMES MURPHY APPLICATION TO RESUBDIVIDE LOTS 59 6
& 7, BLOCK 2, PORTOLA ADDITION (REDWOOD AVENUE) INTO TWO LOTS, 372 FEET EACH. Council-
man Britschgi moved approval of the Planning Commission's recommendation, *seconded by
Councilman foyer and carried.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION OF A. L. WALTER FOR VARIANCE TO
ALLOW 8' BETWEEN HOUSE AND GARAGE AT 414 FLYNN AVENUE. Councilman Stout offered
RESOLUTION 1954 FOR A VARIANCE TO ALLOW 8' BETWEEN HOUSE AND GARAGE AT 414 FLYNN AVENUE
and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried on roll call.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED DENIAL OF THE APPLICATION OF W. MAY TO RESUBDIVIDE LOTS 11
2 & 30 BLOCK 19 W.W.&M. SUBDIVISION, 1726 ROOSEVELT, INTO TWO LOTS. They feel that
since these lots -have been split once and..because duplexes may be built on the prepared
undersized lots, it is not in the best interests of the area. Attornpy Lebsack ex-
plained the situation to the Council. Councilman Royer moved approval of the Planning
Commission's recommendation to deny, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried'.
Councilman Spillers left the meeting at 10:30 p.m.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, CITY COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS:
Councilman Jones stated that he had been asked, by four or five different builders why their
plans had to go to Los Angeles to be checked and approved. He wanted to know if this
couldn't be set up in Redwood City or somewhere in the bay area. Building Inspector
kreiss stated that the Building Conference will have to set up an office which would run
to approximately 20,000 and they are working along this line now and they hope to build
such a building sometime in the near future in the bay area. This was followed by
discussion.
Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion that the Council should do something to control
liquidation and others of its kind of sale during the Holiday Season. Attorney Lebsack
stated that the Auction Ordinance now takes care of this during Christmas and Easter
and if its is the Council's desires this could be done for the type of sale in question.
Councilman Britschgi so moved, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried.
Councilman Britschgi suggested to the Council's that a limit should be placed as to the
number of signs which can be posted or put on buildings or on br in the windows.
I
