Councilman Granger so moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Royer.. This was followed by discussion after which Councilman Stout amended the <br />Police Chief bring back a report in 30 days, seconded by Councilman Britschgi with the stipulation that they <br />also report as to the number of pin ball machines in the City. City Collector Perrin stated that there are <br />approximately 101 machines in the City. Motion carried on roll call, Councilman Jones being noted absent. <br />REDWOOD HAT SHOP REQUEST OF $100 CASH BOND (ORDINANCE 447). The Clerk read the letter from Vera M. Seibald <br />wherein she applied for a refund on her surety bond issued on November 17, 1955. The Clerk read the section <br />of Ordinance 447 which applied to refund of license fee which reads as follows: <br />Every person, firm or corporation who commences business after the adoption of this ordinance <br />and who desires to pay the license provided for permanent classes of business shall file with <br />the Council of said City a bond in the panel sum of one hundred dollars ($100) in favor of <br />x .said City, conditioned that he will in good faith be permanently located in said City in such <br />business for the period of six (6) months and in default of which condition he will forfeit <br />to said City the sum of one hundred dollars ($100). <br />City -Attorney Currie said there was no way in which the City could refund this money. Councilman Stout <br />moved that the City Clerk be instructed to answer the letter as per the condition of the ordinance and the <br />letter should be filed, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />ASSOCIATED OIL COMPANY APPEAL PLANNING COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION TO DENY USE PERMIT TO ALLOW TWO SIGNS AT THEIR <br />SERVICE STATION, BAYSHORE AND MIDDLEFIELD ROAD. The Clerk read the letter. -Councilman Spillers recommended <br />that -the public <br />hearing be set for two weeks, February, <br />27th, and the Mayor <br />so ordered. <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING <br />COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED EXTENDING PRESENT <br />20 MINUTES PARKING <br />ZONES CN WARREN AND FULLER STREETS <br />.(front of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company business office) FROM FORTY FEET TO SIXTY—FOUR FEET. <br />Councilman. Stout moved approval of the Traffic Committees recommendations seconded by Councilman Britschgi <br />and carried. <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED COVERING OF HAWES PARK BLEACHERS. <br />The Clerk read the following report: <br />The Park and Recreation Commission wishes to recommend that the City Council consider the <br />covering of the Hawes Park bleacher at Hawes Park #1, using a portion of the funds from <br />the sale .of Hawes Park. The cost of the bleachers at:$2:50,,per''sgfmre.f6ot'iwi3l be?as' <br />follows: lst base line, $3,085; scorekeeper behind home plate, $1,100; 3rd base line, <br />$5,095. Total price $9,280. <br />,-We feel that the covered bleachers, greater attendance will be encouraged at the softball <br />games. <br />N <br />We would appreciate your every consideration of this matter, so that plans ban be gegun <br />as soon as possible* <br />This was followed by considerable discussion regarding covering bleachers along first base, lights for the <br />softball field, lights for baseball field, use of steel -and wooden poles for the lights and the elimination <br />of the ,hardball field because participation did not warrant the lighting for both baseball lights and <br />softball lights. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Manager call for bids, seconded by Councilman Spillers. After <br />discussion Councilman Britschgi eahnged his motion to have the City Manager have plans and specs prepared <br />for:Hawes Park #1, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Councilman Hoyer stated that he would like to add to <br />the motion that the plans and specs be made and at -the same time get the City Manager to have the lights <br />put in.and having the work done with the amount of money available. He also asked that they add to the <br />final report the cost of softball lights at the new park. Councilman Britschgi added Councilman Royer's <br />suggestions to his motion and the motion carried. <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION REGARDING SWIMMING SCHEDULE FOR 1956 SEASON. The Clerk read the <br />following letter from the Commission: <br />.The�Park and Recreation Commission wishes to recommend to the City Council that a new <br />swimming schedule be considered for the coming season. The Commission recommends that <br />the pool be open from 1 P.M. until 3-P. M. for children 12 years old and under, and <br />0 <br />
