Adults would be able to use the pool, at any time <br />'during the afternoon. <br />In dividing the age groups in this manner, better dontrol and supervision can be maintained by th <br />by the lifeguards, with more enjoyable swimming for both age groups., This recommendation is <br />in accord with the thinking of Alfred Morton, Recreation Director. <br />Thank you for your consideration of this matter. <br />Councilman Granger moved approval of the Park and Recreation Commission's recommendation, seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />PARK AND RECREATION RECOMMENDATION REGARDING CITY MiD PROPERTY ADJACENT TO YMCA BUILDING. The Clerk read llllll <br />the letter wherein the Commission stated that they had no use for this property for park and recreational <br />facilities and they wish to refer this matter to the Council in view of the fact that this property will <br />be included in the future as a possble assessment district. They recommended that this matter be turned Fig <br />over to the Real Estate Committee for disposal. The Y. M. C. A. has requested a lease arrangement for use 1I <br />of this piece of property. <br />Councilman Granger moved that this be referred to the Real Estate Committee, seconded by Councilman . <br />Britschgi. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Spillers was of the opinion that they should <br />enter into an agreement with the Y. M. C. A. for the use of the property and he•was not in favor of selling <br />this property. Motion carried with Councilman Spillers voting NO. <br />AND SUGGESTIONS, COUNCILMEN AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br />City Attorney Currie stated that he had ready a resolution determining that the public interest and necessity <br />demand the acquisitions construction and completion by the City of Redwood City of the following municipal <br />improvements, to wit: (A) Police Station and (B) Municipal Water System improvements= and each of them, <br />will require an expenditure greater than the amount allowed therefor by the annual tax levy. Mr. Currie <br />stated that this resolution should be adopted so that it might appear on the election ballot in April. <br />Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 1980 DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND NECESSITY DEMAND <br />THE ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION ETC. and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on <br />roll, Councilman Jones being noted absent. <br />City Attorney Currie reported that this was the time to introduce the ordinance,calling a special municipal <br />bond election and fixing the date of said election. Councilman Spillers offered introduction of <br />ordinance, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried an roll call, Councilman Jones being noted absent. <br />City Attorney Currie advised that resolution would be ready for adoption at the February 20th meeting covering <br />the proposed Charter Amendment concerning the publication of ordinance, and which would appear on the <br />ballot exactly as it was presented on the April, 1954 ballot. <br />City Attorney Currie spoke in regard to rezoning Mr. Dale stuarts property from R-2 to R-3* He asked that the <br />Council include all of Lot 72 Block F. Woodside Acres (1630 Union Avenue) rater than the portion of Lot 7 <br />that had been requested for rezoning• Councilman Moyer moved introduction of ordinance to rezone all of <br />Lot 7,,Block F. Woodside Acres, from R4 to R-3, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Councilman Stout asked if the traffic lights along E1 Camino Real were set on a speed basis. Police Chief <br />Faulstich stated that the signals were not set on a. speed basis, however, they are set up as best as, <br />they can for the type of signals that the City uses. <br />Councilman Granger asked for a report as,to the cost of the revamping of the trees on El Camino Real.' He <br />'suggested that if it can be done at all that they be permitted to plant the trees now and take the old <br />trees out at their leisure. Councilman Granger moved -that the City Manager take the necessary steps to <br />plant the trees and the old trees to be taken out later, seconded by Councilman Royer. The planting <br />strip in question being between Brewster and Whipple Avenues. Motion carried. - <br />Councilman Granger asked the City Manager why the Counter had not ordered the clean up of the lot on Howland <br />street.
