V - <br />86r — ------ — <br />C u cilmaniBritschgi asked to have the City Clerk call a meeting of the Yacht Harbor Committee for.Friday, <br />March 2nd, at 4 p.m., report of committee to be placed on the,agendae <br />Councilman Stout reported on. the proposed Branch Library and asked the Clerk to read a letter from the Board <br />of Trustees. The Board requested the Council to appoint the City Manager to act in its behalf in <br />obtaining the services of an architect to draw tentative plans for a branch library to be situated on <br />the Roosevelt School property on Euclid Avenue in Redwood City. The Library. Board will meet with the <br />Council on Monday, March 12th, at 7 P.M. <br />The Clerk read the letter from the City Manager REGARDING THE PRESENT CONTRACT FOR THE OPERATION OF THE <br />REDWOOD CITY DUMP which expires on March 6,'1956. It was the recommendation of the City Manager, in <br />which the City Attorney and City Engineer concur, that this contract be extended for one year, subject <br />to furnishing of all required insurance and.bonds by the operator, Frank Benevento. Councilman <br />Spillers moved approval of the City Manager's recommendation, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br />Councilman Jones adked if the City Manager had arranged for a meeting with Richard Ives in regard to the <br />Urban Redevelopment Plans, the meeting to be March lst. This was followed by discussion after which it was <br />decided to set this date aside if possible and try to get another date. <br />Councilman Spillers asked that the lights be reset at El Camino Real and Whipple Avenue. This was followed <br />by discussion after which the Mayor asked that the City Manager and the Police Department report back in <br />one week. This was followed by discussion regarding the Police Department putting a man at this <br />intersection during the peak hours. <br />Councilman Spillers wanted to know what the situation was in regards to Industrial Way. City Attorney Currie <br />w$s of the opinion that this was set for trial for March 29th. <br />Councilman Stout will attend the next Planning Commission meeting. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. Me <br />Invoeation was lead by Reverend Ralph Benson, North Fair Oaks Community Church. <br />ON ROLL. CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Paul Jones, William H. Royer, <br />Robert Ve Spillers, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner and City Clerk R. Be Dodge, Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi <br />and Hiram S. Stout were noted absent. Also present.were City Manager E. A. Rolison, City Attorney C.B. <br />Currie, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Water Superintendent He L. Winter, Police Chief William Faulstich, <br />Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, Assistant Fire Chief Willis Leslie, Assistant to City Manager L. A. <br />Kimball, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Account -Clerk Vivan Holmquist, Park and Recreation Commissioner <br />Irving Gold, Fire Marshal George Asvos, Assessor - Auditor John J. Brophy and Planning Commissioner <br />Mitchell Webber. <br />The minutes of February 20th and February 27th were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Royer, seconded <br />by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Affidavits of publication, posting and mailing were <br />ordered filed. There were no written protests. Mr. Co Be Wood, 445 Redwood Avenue, protested the <br />assessment charges on his property at the dead end of Poplar Avenue, assessments #7 and # 9e He was of <br />the opinion that some time ago a verbal agreement was made wherein he would be givencredit for donating <br />property for the extension of Poplar Avenue.
