<br />Councilman Granger moved to cancel the taxes as'requested subject to approval of the City Attorney

<br />APPOINTMENT TO THE PERSONNEL BOARD. Councilman Stehle nominated Edward J. Voss, to fill the unexpired term
<br />of Dean Tounsend, 6 year term expiring January 15, 1964 (MINUTE ORDER #60-232), seconded by Council-
<br />man Fields and carried unanimously on roll call.
<br />Appointment to. Park and Recreation Commission..Councilman Royer moved that the matter be: continued for one
<br />week, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. ,
<br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 3245 APPROVING PLANS AM SPECIFICATIONS FOR FIRE APPARA-
<br />TUS, 1000 G. P. M. PUMPER, MIN. 750 GALLON TANK; AND, AUTHORIZING CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by
<br />Councilman Stehle and carried unanimously on roll call.

<br />DISCUSSION ON ASSOCIATION CF,BAY AREA.GOVERNMENTS. The Mayor read the letter from John D. Phillips, City
<br />Manager of the City of Berkeley, regarding the cost to Redwood City for ,joining the. association. Coun-
<br />cilman Granger moved to accept the report and the City to become a member of the A.B•A.G* and at the
<br />end of one year membership the Council will review the matter to see if they want to continue -their
<br />membership (MINUTE ORDER #60-234), seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried, Councilman Rosselli
<br />voting no.
<br />Item. 13 was withdrawn from the agenda at the request of Mr. Haminslcy (application of Toy and Craft. Shop,
<br />2116 Broadway, for permit to conduct a closing -out sale). Councilman Granger requested the City
<br />Attorney to consider an ordinance which would prohibit 11going out of.businesst' sales during the month
<br />of December.

<br />Letter from Frank Ternan, 3761 Hoover Street, and neighbors, complaining of an odor that they feel is
<br />a health hazard. It also discolors paint on houses, turns the paint black. This problem is before the
<br />Bay Area Polution Board and Stanley Nobel from the San Mateo County Board of Health is working on the
<br />problem. The odor has been pinpointed to the Ideal Dement Plant. Councilman Granger moved that this
<br />letter be referred to the Ideal Cement Company asking them for a written report back to the Council
<br />
