r� <br />1( <br />42 <br />(MINUTE CRDER AL -237), seconded by Councilman Rosselli and 'carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli asked that consideration be given to a sign designating the City Hall as the Redwood City Hall, <br />be placed on the building. This matter was referred to the City Manager. <br />Councilman Granger asked how much it would cost to designate the George McNulty tree in front of the City Hall. <br />This matter was referred to the City Manager for checking. <br />Councilman Royer moved that the meeting be adjourned to 7-00 p. m., Thursday, November 17, 1960, in the Conference <br />Room, Veterans Memorial Building, Madison and St. Francis Street, seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />Meeting adjourned, 10:18 p. m. <br />Helen C. Moore, City Clerk <br />Minutes of the Regular Adjourned Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />November 17, 1960, 7:30 P. M. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, <br />John So -Rosselli, William H. Royer, Harold C. Stehle, Mayor Ray A. Weymouth and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. <br />Also noted present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, Assessor -Auditor John J. <br />Bropby, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter and Planning Director Dick Wilkinson. <br />PROPOSED EXPENDITURES <br />OF <br />EMERALD LAKE WATER SURPLUS FUNDS in the amount <br />of $26,000, was <br />outlined by Water Super- <br />intendent Winter <br />as <br />follows: <br />1. Replacement of old pumping units and minimum improvements in the pumping plants at Brewster, Vista <br />and Oak and Lakeview Reservoirs at 8n estimated cost of $8,000.00. <br />2. Install 13OU lineal feet of six inch (611) cast iron water main (replacing an old 21' line) on Sunset <br />Way and South Oak Park Way. <br />3. Install 6y0 lineal feet of six inch (61) cast iron water main (replacing an old -3° line) on Cali- <br />fornia Way easterly from Sunset Way. <br />4o Install 650 lineal feet of six inch (611) cast iron water main (replacing old 411 and 2" lines) <br />westerly on California Way, southerly of the Easter Cross tank site. <br />s <br />The estimated cost of the above installations is approximately $16,500.00, and conform to the Adamson plans. <br />The balance of approximately $13500.00 to be used for maintenance and replacement of existing water mains. <br />The ensuing discussion covered the following points: (a) Should profits of the entire area be spent to re- <br />lieve the acute shortage for a small percentage of water consumers; (b) The proposed improvements would not <br />relieve the consumers benefited at this time, from participation in the expense of an overall improvement in <br />the future; (c) An improvement district for the area of acute shortage might be formed by the consumers them- <br />selves. <br />Councilman Royer moved to authorize the Water Superintendent to proceed with his plan as submitted. There <br />was no second, whereupon Councilman Royer changed his motion to authorize the City Manager to proceed with <br />the Water Superintendent's recommendation, either by the use of the existing $26,000 surplus, or by assist- ■} <br />ing the consumers in the affected area to form their own assessment district. Councilman Royer withdrew <br />• <br />this motion when it was pointed out that the proposed plan should be widely publicized before adoption, to <br />obtain the reaction of as many residents of the Emerald Lake area as possible. Councilman Royer then moved <br />to continue the matter to the meeting of November 28th, and to request the Tribune to publicize the matter E <br />in the interim, seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />The Planning Commission's recommendation for street standards in the hill areas was read and discussed. Council- <br />man Herkner moved that the matter be placed on the agenda for November 28th, when the Council will set their <br />policy, seconded cy Councilman Stehle and carried. <br />City Assessor John Brophy reported on the amount of tax revenue the City would receive if the County assessing re- <br />cords were used as a basis for Redwood City assessments. Alternate ways of handling the matter were discussed, <br />
