47 <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING REMOVAL CF REAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED BY CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FROM COUNTY ASSESSMENT RCLLS <br />AND CANCELLATION OF OUTSTANDING TAXES THEREON. Cancellation of taxes is requested on the parcels of <br />property the City acquired for Jones Court, Regent Street and the Parking Lot. Councilman Royer moved <br />adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 3250 REQUESTING REMOVAL OF REAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED BY CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />FROM COUNTY ASSESSMENT ROLLS AND CANCELLATION CF OUTSTANDING TAXES THEREON, seconded by Councilman <br />Herkner and carried unanimously on roll call, Councilman Fields being noted absent. <br />Authorize City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for proposed Utah, Midfield and Altamont Ways <br />assessment district and advance preliminary engineering costs. Petition has been received, signed by <br />59% of the property owners. There are 83 parcels in this proposed district. Planning Commissioner <br />Rambo requested that the City Engineer meet with the property owners affected when the plans have been <br />completed. Councilman Royer moved to authorize the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications <br />2 <br />and the City Auditor to advance funds for payment of the preliminary engineering costs to be reimbursed <br />from the assessment district (MINUTE ORDER #60-247)9 seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Appointment to the Park and Recreation Commission was deleted from the agenda for lack of a full council. <br />Request of Douglass and Woodhouse for ten working days extension, Jones Court improvements. Approval of t he <br />bonding company has been received. This extension is recommended by t heCity Engineer due to unavoid- <br />able water system delays (Friendly Acres Water Goo). Councilman Herkner moved to grant the extension <br />as requested (MINUTE ORDER #60-248)j seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Request by County Engineer for City participation in installation of traffic signals at the intersection <br />of Marsh Road with Bohannon Drive in the unincorporated area, and Florence Street in Redwood City. The <br />Traffic Bureau concurs in the need for traffic control signals at this intersection, and recommends <br />that the City contribute one-third of the cost of the project from gas tax funds. The County wishes <br />informal approval of the joint project at this time and will submit the necessary resolution at a' <br />' later date. Councilman Rosselli moved to accept the recommendation of the Traffic Bureau and grant <br />conditional approval for City participation in the project (MINUTE ORDER #60-249), seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Stehle and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Karl A. Vol.lmayer, Librarian, announced that the tentative meeting in regard to library service in <br />the Friendly Acres area which was originally scheduled for Monday, November 21st, has been changed to <br />Wednesday, November 23rd. The time of the meeting will be 7:30 po me in the Librarian Is office. <br />Robert Harwood, 1151 Oliver Street, requested permission to be on the agenda for November 21st. The <br />Mayor allowed Mr. Harwood to speak. Mr. Harwood presented a petition with 18 signatures of residents <br />protesting any sales tax in Redwood City, specifically against Redwood City joining in a county -wide <br />sales tax under the Bradly -Burns Act. <br />M. J. Carozza, Second Vic -President Public Works Officers Dept. League of California Cities, submitted <br />a letter which contained the following resolution: <br />RESOLVED: <br />"The Public Works Officers Department.hereby extends its thanks and appreciation to, <br />our outgoing Director, Glenn Jain, for your interest and efforts in behalf of this <br />Department of the League during your tour of offices" <br />The Council•also expressed their appreciation to Mr. Jain and to the honor her had brought to Redwood <br />City. <br />W. L. Faulstich, Chief of Police, submitted a letter regarding additional insurance coverage for mem- <br />bers of the Police Department. He recommended that the City Council delay taking any action in this <br />matter until such time as a report is received from the Law Enforcement Association which is now making <br />a thorough investigation into this matter and is to submit a report at the next meeting of the Asso- <br />ciation on December 7, 1960. <br />
