Redwood City Post Office Annex, Landscape Architectural Services
RBA

pg.2

LIST OF RECENT COMMERCIAL SCALE PROJECTS BY RBA

PROJECT

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE BUDGET ($)

Martinez Intermodal Transportation Facilitv./YJartinez. CA 2001 ($1.5~
This new facility is a major transportation hub providing service to citizens throughout Contra
Costa County and the East Bay. It includes a new 6000 square foot station building for Amtrak
and local commuter rails, a bus transfer area, 175 car parking lot, bike lockers, and pedestrian
connectors to the historic downtown area of Martinez. As the project Landscape Architects, RBA
designed and detailed the hardscape and plaza areas, provided planting and irrigation design,
and selected site furnishings. An additional aspect of this project included a restoration of the
adjacent Alhambra creek channel to improve winter storm capacity. RBA worked in conjunction
with the team Biologist, team Hydrologist and various public agencies to provide riparian
plantings at the creek banks and terraces. These native plantings once established will be a
major improvement in wildlife habitat and provide recreational opportunities for the entire
community.

Contact: Richard Pearson, City of Martinez, Director of Transportation, 925-372-3525

Inhale Therapeutics HeadQuarters. San Carlos. CA. 2000 ($300.000)
RBA designed the grounds for two Inhale projects at their Industrial Drive facilities in San Carlos.
The projects included remodeled corporate offices and new manufacturing facilities. At the
remodeled offices, preservation of existing large trees in the existing courtyard was the key to a
wonderfully shaded patio garden for employee lunch breaks and gatherings. This project was
awarded "Best Refurbished Office Landscape" from the City of San Carlos Planning Commission
in 2000. Landscape work on the new 30,000 sf manufacturing facility included a roof terrace
garden with large on-structure planters stocked with giant timber bamboo, screen plantings
along the Route 101 frontage, and massing of ornamental grasses at the main entry to the
facility.

Contact: Randall Dowler, DGA Architects. 650-943-1660

Santa Clara Vallev Medical Center. Bascom Ave. San Jose. 1999 (2 million)
As the Landscape Architects for the $175 million North Tower building and refurbished hospital
campus, RBA provided design input for the hardscape, landscape and irrigation portions of the
project. In addition to many acres of landscape and irrigation work, RBA provided design and
documentation for the main entry plaza at the tower, site furnishings, on-structure terrace
plantings, two parking structures and several new parking lots. Achievements included new
boulevard tree plantings to identify the major vehicular access and new geometric paver patterns
in the entry courts to define pedestrian spaces.

Contact: Anshen & Allen, Herb Moussa, Project Architect. 415-885-9500

T
