M /S: Britschgi /Bury
RESOLUTION NO. 10710 VACATING TWO (2) PUBLIC SERVICE EASEMENTS IN THE CITY OF
REDWOOD CITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH PART 3 OF DIVISION 9, STREETS AND HIGHWAYS
CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA (REDWOOD SHORES AREAS "E" AND "F")
Carried unanimously by roll call vote.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
a. Eugene Masciarelli, of Redwood Shores, Inc., 3 Twin Dolphin Drive, advised
the Council of the problems caused by individuals feeding the ducks in the Redwood
Shores area. An ever - increasing duck population may lead to an outbreak of water
cholera, at which point the Fish and Wildlife Department might have to destroy the
entire duck population to prevent the spread of the disease. Fencing in the ducks
was tried, but the fences were vandalized. Other areas have used security forces,
but this obtrusive measure seems unwarranted.
Council directed staff to work with Redwood Shores, Inc. to resolve this problem.
b. Terry Collins, 2406 Delaware, Redwood City, told the Council he has been
receiving parking tickets on his truck parked on the street in front of his house
and asked the Council to issue a parking permit to allow him to park his truck on
the street, as his driveway is too small to accommodate a vehicle of any size.
Council advised Mr. Collins that the parking ordinance was adopted as a result of
Redwood City residents asking for parking regulations for safety and aesthetic
reasons.
Councilman Britschgi noted that attention to residents' desire for safety and
aesthetic considerations has helped to make Redwood City first in San Mateo County
and 7th in the Bay Area in providing the highest quality of life, according to an
article in the 1/4/88 edition of the San Francisco Chronicle.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
a. Councilman Britschgi advised that the California Department of Transportation
would be meeting in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, Wednesday, January 6,
1988, to discuss proposed soundwalls along Highway 101 between the San
Mateo /Santa Clara County Line and Whipple Road in Redwood City. Mayor Claire
said Redwood City will be represented.
MINUTE BOOK NO. 47
Page No. 453
Reg.Mtg.
1/4/88
Page 2
