2. Presentation of videotape of Middlefield Road Cleanup <br />Day <br />Councilwoman LaBerge introduced Rene White, her Co -Chair of Middlefield Road <br />Cleanup Day. Mr. White presented a videotape he had prepared of the cleanup <br />project activity. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />3. Presentation by the San Mateo County Housing Task <br />Force <br />Maben Clark, Co- Chair, San Mateo County Housing Task Force, presented a <br />photograph of the plaque presentation honoring the City for Heron Court and <br />the Family Living Shelter. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />4. Presentation by United Way <br />Bob Van Horne, County Manager for United Way, commended City employees for <br />their 72% participation in the recent fund drive; presented a plaque to them; <br />and presented certificates for committee members to Carolyn McLaurin, Quality <br />of Work Life Coordinator. <br />5 . Presentation by Pat Brown, trustee of Redwood C i t y <br />Elementary School District, of proposed Youth Needs <br />and Services Committee <br />Pat Brown, Trustee of Redwood City Elementary School District, and a member <br />of the Youth Services Steering Committee referred to her letter of November <br />30, 1987, regarding establishment of a Select Committee on Youth Needs and <br />Services with participation of City Council members. <br />Michael Hutton, Project Director, YMCA Youth and Family Services, Redwood <br />City, described needs of youth in the community, giving examples. <br />In response to question, Ms. Brown said that including youth on the proposed <br />committee has been regarded as a second step to be taken later with some kind <br />of partnership arrangement of adults and youth. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council to <br />schedule consideration of the request for establishment of a Select Committee <br />on Youth Needs and Services as proposed by Pat Brown, Trustee of the <br />Elementary School District, and other members of the Steering Committtee on <br />Youth Services for February 1, 1988. <br />MEMO 1/19/88 <br />6.
