Item No. 6 (continued) <br />In response to questions, Traffic Manager Gee described traffic on the local <br />street, the lack of alternatives to improving the situation, alternate routes <br />for those traveling south, the General Plan Circulation Element policy of <br />protecting local streets from traffic intrusion, the public relations impact <br />of creating a one -way street, the benefit to nearby San Carlos residents, and <br />barriers already established by San Carlos to regulate traffic there. <br />M /S: Greenalch /Chandler that the Warwick Street Bridge be turned into <br />one -way northbound (into San Carlos) for a 90 -day trial period, the period to <br />begin after the City Council of San Carlos has been officially notified. <br />Nita Spanqler, 970 Edgewood Road, said the proposed action will create <br />difficult lefthand turns for her on her usual travel routes, proposed other <br />traffic signs on Edgewood to improve the situation there and urged that <br />solutions regarding area traffic problems be worked out with the City of San <br />Carlos. <br />City Attorney Schri cker said that if the motion is approved, a resolution <br />would have to be brought back to Council taking the formal action and that <br />first, the proposal must be submitted to the Zoning Administrator for review <br />with regard to CEQA regulations. Mr. Schricker estimated the review would <br />take about 30 days. <br />John Kasterman, 406 Arlington at Warwick, urged approval of the Traffic <br />Committee recommendation. <br />The motion carried on the following rol 1 call vote. <br />Ayes: Councilmen Bury, Chandler, Greenalch, Stangel and Mayor Claire <br />Noes: Councilmen Britschgi and LaBerge <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 88 -33 <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------ - - - - -- - -- <br />7.
