District. He stated that the level of one Council Member meeting with one Board <br />Member and our staff meeting with theirs has not been effective. He further <br />stated that he had spoken with Board Member Gibson and advised him that this <br />topic would be brought up by a member of the public and himself to formally <br />acknowledge that this is a matter of Council interest. He further requested that <br />either he or Mayor Ira be the formal communicant with the School District Board <br />and asked if the City Attorney could assist with the facilities fee tax that the High <br />School District imposes to make clear what the City's legal position is field usage. <br />He read a statement that described the fee approved by the people. <br />Mayor Ira stated that there must be more cooperation and that Council Member <br />Hartnett should be the representative in this endeavor. <br />F. Council Member Bain — reminded Council and staff of the topic of an <br />Emergency Preparedness Plan that he and Council Member Hartnett have been <br />working on with staff. That plan presentation is scheduled for November 22. <br />He also brought up the topic of well water and how that might benefit Redwood <br />City, asking for exploration of a backup water source should there be an <br />earthquake and to accommodate future growth. <br />9. ADJOURNMENT - 8:55 p.m. <br />M/S Foust/Hartnett to adjourn in memory of Marion Edith Smilovitz, who passed away <br />on October 28. She was an integral part of the family business, Popik Furniture <br />Company in Redwood City, a woman of valor, dedicated to community service in <br />Redwood City. She was a vital congregant of Temple Beth Jacob, President of the <br />Sisterhood, a member of the Board of Directors and capable fundraiser.
