Preliminary Report re Sewer Rate Increase <br />(1206 -02) <br />Report: Director of Public Works 12/23/86 <br />Frank Addieqo, Director of Public Works, presented the report. In response <br />to questions from Council regarding raising residential rates and lowering of <br />all other user categories, Mr. Addiego stated it would not be possible to <br />break even without any rate increase and it is mandated by law that rates <br />must be calculated in a fair and equitable manner. <br />Jim Bewley, Manager, SBSA, explained that rates must change if financial <br />data on costs so indicate. <br />Further discussion followed regarding requirement for monies to be held in <br />reserve for replacement program, how costs are determined, and that each user <br />must pay its cost. <br />Nita Spanqler, 970 Edgewood, asked if there was any way people can conserve <br />to cut the rates, because the person who is frugal pays the same rate. <br />M /S: Chandler /Britschgi to set a public hearing to establish new sanitary <br />sewer service charges in accordance with the Revenue Program requirements of <br />the Clean Water Grant Program. <br />carried unanimously by voice vote.
