M /S: Britschgi /Chandler <br />RESOLUTION NO. 10397 CHANGING NAME OF "MARINE WORLD PARKWAY" TO " "MARINE <br />PARKWAY" IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />carried unanimously by roll call vote. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />CITY MANAGER REPORTS <br />4. Status Report re Civic Center Telephone System <br />City Manager Smith advised that one of the most significant aspects of <br />developing the new Civic Center will be the development of a communications <br />system and Westin Engineering, Inc. has been contracted to develop a plan for <br />a new system. <br />Butch Shafsky, principal consultant for Westin Engineering, described the <br />maintenance problem of the very old present system. He explained that they <br />have been studying the renovation plans and new facilities that are under <br />construction in order to make a needs analysis which has been completed and <br />they have defined all of the alternatives which basically get down to staying <br />with the present service or replacing it with either a leased or owned <br />telephone system. He then referred to transparencies depicting installed and <br />proposed cables from one facility to another, the various options being <br />studied, and the completion dates of the various renovation plans. <br />Mr. Shafsky responded to questions from Council, noting that there are <br />advantages and disadvantages to each alternative. Personnel Matters <br />Report: Director of Human Resources 1/12/87 <br />Jim Irizarry, Director of Human Resources, responded to questions from <br />Council regarding bench marked positions, permanancy of some positions, <br />possible change of titles during reorganization, that the position of <br />Assistant to the City Manager should be exempt and confidential, and the <br />cities that were surveyed regarding comparable salaries. <br />Titles read.
