ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />a. Cliff Keith, 327 St. Francis Street, suggested the vote on the Charter <br />amendment relating to consolidation of municipal elections approved by the <br />voters in November 1986, represented a "mandate" to consolidate elections <br />and requested reconsideration of the Council decision not to do so. (See <br />Council Minutes of 4/27/87) <br />Councilman Bury explained that the Charter was amended to allow the option of <br />consolidating elections and noted that circumstances are not the same as in <br />November, since the Redwood City Elementary School District has changed its <br />election date. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />2. Report re Community Survey (405 -10) <br />Report: City Manager 5/7/87 <br />Councilman Britschgi called Council attention to the current issue of Western <br />Cities magazine which contains an article on general obligation bond measures <br />presented to voters in several cities in California during the past year. <br />Nita Spanqler, 970 Edgewood Road, said she would like more information on the <br />survey itself and on the results. <br />M /S: Chandler /Greenalch to hold special study session for consideration of <br />the results of the Community Survey and the possibility of placing a general <br />obligation bond issue measure on the ballots for either the November 3, 1987 <br />or the April 12, 1988 election and that staff be directed to determine a <br />convenient date soon. <br />(NOTE: The meeting will be held Thursday, May 21, 1987, 7:30 p.m., at the <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt) <br />ADDITION TO MOTION: At the request of Councilman Britschgi, Vice Mayor <br />Chandler added that Joe Shumate of Shumate & Co. who prepared the survey be <br />asked to be present at the study session. <br />The Motion with addition carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 87-90 <br />2.1 Councilwoman LaBerge announced that "Beautification Day" for the cleanup of <br />El Camino Real w i l l be held Saturday morning, May 16, 1987, and invited <br />everyone to participate, observing that a flyer with details is available at <br />City Hall and at other city buildings. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />5/11/87 <br />page 2 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 47 <br />Page No. 129 <br />
