MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Councilman Greenalch commended Cathy Buerchner, Natal ie McGill and Elizabeth <br />Robinson who will receive the highest Girl Scout Award known as the "Gold <br />Award" for their scouting activities. <br />b. Councilman Greenalch inquired about a reply to a letter to Council from Diane <br />Berlin of Redwood Travel regarding the increase in parking meter fees. <br />(Letter of 6/4/87 is on file in City Clerk Department.) <br />City Manager Smith reported he has talked to Ms. Berlin and will write in <br />response to her suggestion, after it has been reviewed. <br />MEMO 6/9/87 <br />c. Councilman stangel summarized the County Transportation Commission report <br />with regard to their support or opposition to a variety of transit issues. <br />d. Councilman Britschgi requested that Council schedule a review of information <br />on the proposed one -half cent tax for countywide transportation ballot <br />measure, noting that the Advisory Committee requests the meeting be held. <br />CONSENSUS: Vice Mayor Chandler determined it to be the consensus of Council <br />to place an item on the City Council Agenda for July 20, 1987, relating to <br />the proposed one -half cent tax for improved transportation at the request of <br />the Countywide Transportation Committee and that at that time background <br />information on BART be provided for the meeting also. <br />(NOTE: Date has been changed to July 6, 1987, because of expected vacation <br />absence of Council members involved with the Committe.) <br />MEMO 6/9/87 <br />e. Councilwoman LaBerge complimented City staff who handled the sidewalk program <br />in her neighborhood. <br />f . CONSENSUS: Vice Mayor Chandler determined it to be the consensus of Council <br />to conduct the interviews for appointments to the Library Board and Planning <br />Commission commencing at 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 22, 1987 in the Board of <br />Supervisors Chambers and to conduct the interviews for the Board of Port <br />Commissioners in the same place at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 6, 1987. <br />ME MO 6 /9 /87 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />1.
