Discussion to consider request of Diversified <br />Marina Enterprises for inclusion of housing in <br />Marina Redevelopment Sub -area. <br />Mayor Claire said that the joint meeting is intended to be an informal <br />free-flowing discussion session with regard to consideration of the recent <br />request of DME for inclusion of housing in the proposed Marina Development <br />Sub -Area Plan and encouraged Council and Planning Commission members to <br />participate and ask questions. Mayor Claire observed that following comment <br />by staff, members of the audience will also be welcome to comment and ask <br />questions, noting that no action will be taken this evening. <br />Redevelopment Executive Director Church presented DME's requests for <br />extension of exclusive right to negotiate which expired June 30, 1987, and <br />that housing be a permitted element in planning for the Marina Sub -Area. <br />Mr. Church reviewed the chronology of DME's interest in the Marina Sub -Area <br />since June 1982, referring to a wall map. <br />Planning Director Patterson commented concerning the Waterfront Plan and its <br />development and noted existing land uses in the Subject Area. <br />City Manager Smith added that DME reports they are making the request <br />regarding inclusion of housing, because market conditions and economics <br />suggest that it is needed for a successful project. <br />Joint.Mtg. <br />7/9/87 <br />MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL /PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 47 <br />Page No. 193 <br />
