Item No. 1 (continued) <br />In response to question, Mr. Patterson said that land use and laws have not <br />changed with regard to the area, since housing was excluded from the <br />r <br />proposed plan; that the land is zoned "Tidal Plain" and "Industrial- � <br />Restricted "; and that residential use is now permitted as people are being <br />allowed to l i v e in the Marina Sub -area on their boats. <br />General discussion with comment and questions followed throughout the <br />meeting with the persons indicated below making statements. <br />John Hughes, Pacific Ready -Mix, now Lone Star Cement, does not want housing <br />permitted in the Marina Sub -Area. <br />Manfred Schaefer, Granite Rock, said his company pays sales tax and has a <br />large investment in the present industrial use of their property. <br />Steve Strauss, Pacesetter Homes, described needs of the property which must <br />be met before a specific development plan can be designed, citing soils <br />testing, etc. <br />Paul Barry, Bay Area Boaters, suggested that the people who could afford the <br />kind of housing contemplated would object to any industry in the area. <br />Steve Duvier, VIP Marina, suggested that the present users and landowners of <br />the Marina Sub -Area property should decide the kind of development which may <br />take place there. <br />Dave McKi n, Docktown Marina, suggested there is a need in the area for boat <br />hauling facilities and observed that businessmen there may be reluctant to <br />invest because of the threat of redevelopment. <br />Wes McWethy inquired regarding the disposition of the old sewer plant and <br />was told it is non -toxic and will be demolished. <br />Chairman Audsley announced that the Planning Commission will consider the <br />inclusion of housing in the Marina Redevelopment Sub -area at the next <br />meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 1987. <br />MEMO 7/10/87 <br />Senior Assistant City Attorney Case said <br />between the Redevelopment Agency and DME, <br />negotiate expired on June 30, 1987.
