Item No. 8 (continued) <br />Mayor Claire appointed Councilwoman LaBerge and Vice Mayor Chandler to <br />serve as the Council representatives to go to San Carlos with the Traffic <br />Committee recommendation and to bring back a report to the August 10, <br />1987 Council meeting. <br />MEMO 7/28/87 <br />(Council recessed from 9:10 to 9:18 p.m.) <br />8.1 Councilman Stangel reported that the SamTrans Board has voted to place a <br />measure on the November 3, 1987 ballot relating to a proposed BART <br />extension. <br />8.2 Councilman Greenalch, RPC (Regional Planning Committee of San Mateo County) <br />described the plan for 112 cent sales tax for street and highway projects <br />presented by Councilman Dudley of Atherton, stating that the Council of <br />Mayors will consider it next and then the Board of Supervisors. <br />8.3 Councilman Bury reported that with regard to Casa de Redwood, the lower two <br />floors are now occupied by former tenants; everyone else is in a home or an <br />apartment; the elevators will be installed soon; and sprinkler bids are being <br />considered. <br />City Manager Smith reported that today the City learned that the federal <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will contribute a <br />substantial amount toward the cost of sprinklers for the building. <br />8.4 Vice Mayor Chandler reported that with regard to the request of the Airport <br />Land Use Committee (ALUC) to become a commission rather than remain under the <br />RPC, the By -Laws Committee recommended the ALUC be abolished.
