MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Councilman Greenalch called attention to a letter he distributed to Council <br />from Celia Hartnett, 3443 Brittan Avenue, San Carlos, addressed to the City <br />Council of Redwood City relating to a proposal to develop the Lands of <br />Benedetti which will be heard by the San Carlos Council on September 28, <br />1987. <br />b. Councilman Britschgi announced that the report of the Council of Mayors <br />Compensation Committee will be made at the meeting on Friday evening, <br />September 25, 1987, with Jack Liebert, attorney of Liebert, Cassidy and <br />Frierson as the guest speaker on employee relations and invited all Council <br />members to attend. <br />c. Water Storage Reservoir No. 2 design modifications, <br />Redwood Shores - Amendment to Professional services <br />agreement (CH2M HILL) <br />Report: Community Development Director 9/10/87 <br />In response to question, Assistant City Engineer Schroedl said that it is <br />necessary to raise the elevation of the reservoir in order to deal with the <br />soil contamination problem; that work involves a new site plan, an <br />impermeable barrier of plastic, modifications to the foundation and an <br />extension of the pilings where the tank will rest; and that the <br />contamination involves petroleum hydrocarbons which were apparently in <br />residue from the former asphalt plant on the property.
