Bayshore Blvd., Sp 319, Redwood City, asked the Council
to look into the matter of weeds and parked cars in the area across the
street from Lyngso, between Seaport Blvd. and East Bayshore.
Vice Mayor Chandler advised that some of this land belongs to Cal Trans, and
asked City staff to see what can be done.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
1. Councilman Britschgi presented a report on the Council of Mayors
Transportation Committee meeting of 2 weeks ago. This Thursday night will be
the 2nd meeting of the group. Only South San Francisco and SamTrans were not
represented, SamTrans stating they were not notified. Supervisor Mary
Griffin was present as an observer. A resolution of procedure was agreed
upon and will have to be reviewed and approved by Council of Mayors and
County Board of Supervisors. Transportation Committee will meet every 2
weeks. City Council will have to review priorities and see if we still want
to support the same issues. It appears that SMTAC wants to continue their
oversight role in transportation issues in the County.
2. Councilman Britschgi asked staff for clarification on the BFI proposal for
end of the month pickups of extra items, and if the bi- annual pickups of
extra items would then be discontinued. Councilman Stangel noted these new
pickups were for single family and duplex only. City Manager Smith advised
he would return to the Council with more information in the near future.
MEMO 10/13/87
3. Councilman Britschgi asked for clarification on the proposed change in the
agendas of the Council and Redevelopment Agency meetings. City Manager
explained it is the intent to limit the agenda of the Redevelopment Agency on
the 2nd Monday to routine items only, with all the issues scheduled for the
4th Monday. Similarly, it is the intent to limit the agenda of the Council on
the 4th Monday to routine items only, to allow more time for the meeting of
the Redevelopment Agency.
4. Councilwoman LaBerge presented an update on the Fair Oaks Community Center
program with the Human Investment Project. The City of Redwood City gave a
small lot to the Home Sharing Program, and architects presented drawings to
show how a small lot could offer enough space for a home to be shared by 6 to
8 people. Eleven architects participated. The results were dramatic and the
the drawings showed just how much could be done with what is considered a
substandard lot. This program will become a model for the state and possibly
nationwide.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS - None
Reg.Mtg.
10/12/87
Page 2
MINUTE BOOK NO. 47
Page No. 383
