Stangel <br />Joint Meetinq <br />M I N U T E S <br />Joint Meeting <br />City Council and Traffic Committee <br />Monday, October 19, 1987 <br />Room 101, 590 Hamilton <br />CALL TO ORDER - 8:00 p.m., Mayor Claire presiding <br />Councilmen present: Britischgi, Chandler, LaBerge, Stangel and Mayor Claire <br />Councilmen absent: Bury, Greenalch <br />Committee Members present: Balzarini, Ferrando, Ladd, Murry and Chairman <br />Leipzig <br />Committee Members absent: Cooper, Wade <br />Officials and staff present: Smith, Schricker, Hildebrand and Pawloski, <br />Schroedl, Gee, Patterson <br />GENERAL <br />(see RESOLUTION NO. 10268 ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC COMMITTEE, adopted 8/4/86) <br />Mayor Claire stated that the City Council had adjourned to joint meeting with <br />the Traffic Committee in response to the request of the Committee for such a <br />meeting for the purpose of discussion of its role in the City government. <br />Mayor Claire invited Council and Committee members to comment on their <br />perception of the charge to the Committee made in the subject resolution and of <br />the role the Committee should play within the City organization. <br />Comment was made concerning the traffic considerations relating to the proposed <br />Sequoia Medical Office Building now under consideration by the Planning <br />Commission. <br />In response to comment, City Attorney Schricker said that with respect to <br />review of a draft EIR (Environmental Impact Report), the draft might be <br />circulated to the Committee as an interested agency with regard to traffic <br />items, and the Committee could pass its comments and recommendations on to the <br />Planning Commission for consideration along with the comments which might be <br />offered by other interested agencies and individuals. Mr. Schricker observed <br />that there is a distinction between traffic regulations in the City Code and <br />the State requirements relating to CEQA regulations or the Circulation Element <br />of the General Plan under the Planning Commission <br />Joint.Mtg.
