Item No. 3 (continued)
Peter Musso, 34 Central Avenue, Redwood City, appellant, stated parking
problems would not be created by this second unit, that the shared access
with his commercial property would allow adequate parking, and that his video
store customers do not park for any length of time. Mr. Musso asked for the
variance to allow needed family housing in the area.
Mr. Ralph Peterson, 240 Outer Circle, Redwood City, spoke in support of
granting the Variance to Peter Musso stating there would be no parking
problem, that there would be a two -car garage, and Mr. Musso is an asset to
the neighborhood.
J. Svitek and C. Mantis delivered a letter to the Council at 7:30 p.m.
opposing the granting of a Variance to Mr. Musso.
Mayor Claire invited anyone else who wished to speak to do so. No one else
wished to speak.
M /S: Britschgi /Stangel to close the public hearing.
Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 8:22 p.m.
M /S: Britschgi /Chandler to deny the appeal of Peter Musso for a Variance
to construct a duplex at 34 Central Avenue based on the following findings:
1. There are no special circumstances with respect to size, shape,
topography, location, and surroundings which would allow the
consideration of a Variance.
2. The granting of the Variance would constitute a grant of special
privilege because other properties within this neighborhood are of
similar size and width and are occupied by single - family dwellings.
3. The granting of the Variance would be contrary to the intent of the
Ordinance which limits duplexes to lots with a minimum of 7,500
square feet and 60 feet of width.
4. A portion of this substandard property (1,170 square feet) is being
used by the adjacent commercial property for access to its parking
area for which a Variance was granted to allow seven parking spaces
instead of the required nine.
The motion carried on the following roll call vote.
Ayes: Councilmen Britschgi, Chandler, Greenalch and Mayor Claire
Noes: Councilmen Bury, LaBerge, Stangel
MINUTE ORDER NO. 87 -219
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - NONE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reg.Mtg.
11/16/87
Page 3
MINUTE BOOK NO. 47
Page No. 421
