Mr. Valbusa <br />urged Council to participate in the JPA (Joint Powers Agreement) for <br />recycling. <br />M /S: Britschgi /Bury to request staff to look into the BFI Recycling Program <br />with the JPA and report back to Council. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. MINUTE ORDER NO. 87 -228 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />a. Josephine Sprinqs, 901 Valota Road, presented a petition signed by residents <br />of her neighborhood concerning problems encountered in connection with <br />activities in the Valota /Vera area of Red Morton Community Park. Mrs. <br />Springs described continuing vandalism and other undesirable activities <br />usually taking place on Saturday nights near the Armory. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire referred to previous discussion with Mrs. Spring and <br />his communications to the State National Guard relating to termination of <br />certain activities at the Armory and determined it to be the consensus of <br />Council to refer the matter to Park and Recreation Director Griffiths to <br />investigate as to whether certain Saturday night activities have been <br />terminated, and, if not, to follow up as necessary on the matter. <br />MEMO 11/24/87 <br />b. John J. Guheen, 1220 Howard, Burlingame, attorney representing Bel Mateo <br />Enterprises, Inc., dba Yellow Cab Company, referred to his "Request to <br />Consider the Present Insurance Requirements for Taxicab Companies in the City <br />of Redwood City" distributed to Council this evening. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council to <br />refer the matter of insurance requirements for taxicab operator permits to <br />staff for review and recommendation and that taxicab service not be <br />interrupted pending receipt of the staff report on insurance coverage. <br />MEMO 11/24/87 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Councilman Bury reported that the replica of Sir Francis Drake's "Golden <br />Hinde" will arrive at the Port at about 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, <br />1987, and will be open to the public for a small charge daily until December <br />13. <br />b. Councilman Greenalch referred to the copy of the letter of November 18, <br />1987, from Anne T.
