Matters of Council Interest (continued) <br />c. Councilman Greenalch called attention to the letter of November 17, 1987, <br />from the League of California Cities referring to the assistance to cities <br />given by Senator Rebecca Morgan and asked that Senator Morgan's efforts be <br />recognized. <br />Mayor Claire said that he plans to write Senator Morgan on behalf of <br />Council. MEMO 11/24/87 <br />d. Councilman Britischgi reported that information has been requested on <br />depressing the railroad tracks in the County by the Council of Mayors <br />Transportation Committee. <br />e. Councilwoman LaBerge reported that she atended the recent Council of Mayors <br />meeting for the City and said that Al Teglia and Frank Cannizzaro were <br />appointed to SamTrans. She said that there was no discussion regarding the <br />Transportation Committee. <br />f. Councilwoman LaBerge called attention to the letter of November 13, 1987, to <br />Mayor Claire reporting a traffic accident at Veterans Boulevard and Walnut <br />Street and suggesting hazards are created by the yellow sodium vapor <br />streetlights used in that area. <br />City Manager Smith reported that studies of experience with such sodium lamps <br />generally indicate that the yellow lamps provide more light and reduce <br />traffic accidents, and said staff will look into the situation. <br />MEMO 11/24/87 <br />g. Mayor Claire referred to discussion about the 49er lease at the joint meeting <br />with the Park and Recreation Commission on November 10, 1987, and announced <br />he has appointed Councilmen Britschgi and Greenalch to work as a committee on <br />the matter and has also appointed Councilmembers LaBerge, Stangel and Bury to <br />work on a 49er Committee with the Commission. <br />MEMO 11/24/87 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />There being no objection, Mayor Claire removed item 2. from the Consent Calendar <br />for the purpose of discussion only. <br />Carolyn Nobles, 3720 Country Club Drive, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of <br />TEWCI, expressed appreciation to all of those responsible for the Senior Center <br />Addition to Fair Oaks Community Center. <br />M /S: Bury /LaBerge to waive reading of the Consent Calendar, adopt the <br />resolutions and approve other items. <br />Carried unanimously by roll call vote. <br />2.
