Council comments included that the pedestrian bicycle walkway will not be <br />funded because the Marina Shores project is not going forward. There is money <br />available through MTC and C /CAG for pedestrian and bicycle pathways and <br />cities are being asked to be project ready. An explanation was given in reference <br />to page 6.A -9 showing the fees allocated to the different land use categories and <br />the difference between the fast food and high turnover restaurant. A request was <br />made to keep the placeholder for shuttle service and to bring cost estimates for <br />the service to the Priority session. The point was made that there is also related <br />money in the GID for improvements or projects in Redwood Shores such as <br />timing of lights. <br />Mayor Ira asked Traffic Engineer Haygood to explain Attachment "B" summary. <br />Recommendation: <br />Review and file the Transportation Impact Fee Account Report for Fiscal Year <br />2003/2004. <br />7. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />A. Legislation (information only) - This sub - section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California <br />Cities Priority Focus Bulletin No. 45 -2004. Council may direct staff to act on <br />positions taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus <br />available in City Clerk's Department) <br />B. Council Member Howard — stated that she has a C /CAG meeting on Thursday <br />where discussion of transit oriented development monies available for cities <br />developing transit oriented development within one third mile of a major <br />transportation hub. Redwood City only has one hub and she stated she would <br />continue to lobby for revising the one third mile requirement to at least a half mile <br />or more to allow other cities to participate. <br />C. Council Member Bain — stated that he had attended the swearing in of State <br />Assembly Member Ira Ruskin in Sacramento. He stated that he also met with <br />Council Members Foust and Howard about filling the Council vacancy and that <br />the subcommittee expects to make a presentation on December 13 on some <br />recommendations for a process to appoint a replacement. <br />D. Vice Mayor Pierce — stated that the yellow ribbons on the trees in front of City <br />Hall were installed by Tiffany Teele and her husband as part of the Yellow Ribbon <br />campaign going on nationwide from December 4 through January 4.
