Community Development - Page 28 (continued) <br />M /S: Britschgi /Greenalch to delete the $5,000 increase recommended for <br />the Chamber of Commerce in 1987 -88. <br />The motion carried on the following roll call vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmen Britschgi, Greenalch, LaBerge and Mayor Claire <br />Noes: Councilmen Stangel, and Vice Mayor Chandler <br />Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood Road, said she favors a community chamber of <br />commerce rather than one dominated by business interests. Mrs. Spangler <br />objected to the allocation of public funds to the Peninsula Celebration <br />Association (PCA). <br />Peter Hughes, suggested the PCA provides public service to the <br />community. <br />Stan Kangas, Chamber of Commerce, noted that the Chamber has a contract <br />with the City specifying what is covered by the City's contribution. <br />M /S: Stang el /Greenalch to confirm that the San Mateo County Convention <br />and Visitors Bureau will receive $25,000; the PCA $5,000; the Redwood <br />Shores Regatta $500; and the Chamber of Commerce $30,000 in the 1986 -87 <br />Annual Budget. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />(The Council recessed from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. ) <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (Page 24) <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council to <br />move the objective to prepare a nuisance abatement ordinance for <br />adoption from the list of objectives for 1987 -88 to those for 1986 -87. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SUPPORT (Page 38) <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council <br />that consideration be given to a balanced payment plan for water service <br />for those who might find it easier to make payment in that manner; and <br />to give consideration to asking water customers if they would be willing <br />to make a contribution when paying their regular bills for a fund to <br />help the needy with payment of their water bills. <br />LEISURE, CULTURAL AND INFORMATION (Page 55 -58) <br />M /S: Britschgi /Stangel to allow two additional employees in 1986 -87 <br />instead of the 3.6 recommended and to allow one additional employee in <br />1987 -88 instead of the 2.2 recommended for the Library. <br />Budget.
