Item No. 1 (continued)
Jim Hartnett, Kubota, Constantino and Hartnett, 1720 Marco Polo Drive,
Burlingame, attorney representing the Escobedos, owners of the subject
property, noted that the public hearing had been continued from 45 days ago
to allow time for the owners to show compliance; that a contract has been let
for the rehabilitation work; a building permit has been obtained, that some
preliminary work has been done, that they are prepared to do the remainder,
assuming they are given more time, and that they are obligated to finish no
later than December 1, 1986.
Mr. Hartnett indicated in reply to questions by Council with regard to
conditions other than the dilapidated building, that apparently the family
still has a number of cats; that some improvement has been made in the yard
area and the fence taken down; that there has been some reduction in the
excessive number of vehicles, but because of the number of people living
there, several vehicles remain in the yard. He described the various types
of rehabilitation work proposed to be done, which he believes will increase
the value of the property enabling the owners to obtain loan funds for
further improvements.
Mayor Claire invited anyone present who wished to speak to do so. No one
else wished to speak.
M /S: Stangel /LaBerge to close the public hearing.
Carried unanimously by voice vote and public hearing closed at 7:45 p.m.
Council noted that some of the problems appear to involve neighbor
complaints, aside from the building abatement issue; and suggested the
advisability of continuing the matter pending resolution of the remaining
problems.
M /S: Bury / Stangel to retain jurisdiction of the matter, and require a report
on behalf of the owner, and from the Chief Building Official as to the status
of compliance in connection with the abatement of nuisance, dilapidated
building at 1156 Cleveland, and continue the matter to December 8, 1986.
Carried unanimously by voice vote.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 86 -180
---------------------- r----------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
2.
