Councilman Bury announced that the Bay Conservation and Development <br />Commission will meet at the Port conference room on October 2, prior to which <br />the Marine Ecological Institute will offer Council members and the members of <br />BCDC an opportunity to take a boat trip at 9:45 a.m. in the south bay to <br />demonstrate some of the activities in which they are involved relating to <br />marine life. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />(Council recessed from 9:00 to 9:10 p.m.) <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />CITY MANAGER /DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS <br />There being no objection, Mayor Claire ordered that Item 9. Report re fence <br />regulation will be considered out of order at this time. <br />9. Report re fence regulation <br />Report: Community Development Director 9/17/86 <br />Community Development Director Schroeter presented the subject report, <br />followed by a slide presentation depicting photographic examples of <br />attractive fencing conforming to the City's regulations, as well as those in <br />violation of setback, height and other requirements, followed by a series of <br />graphics showing alternate standards and their characteristics. <br />Karel Herrinqton, 292 Edgewood Road, reported that she had recently received <br />a citation for a fence violation which existed when she purchased the <br />property about a year ago, and stated that she believes fences and hedges <br />should be equally regulated with respect to height. She displayed maps which <br />she prepared following a survey, on which she had colored locations where she <br />believed violations existed in the City. <br />Pat and Bill Gross, 1111 Cleveland, thought that their property had been <br />singled out for criticism and citation, and indicated that they relied on <br />their contractor who installed the fence to know what the City's regulations <br />were. <br />M /S: Chandler /LaBerge to hold a joint meeting with the Planning Commission <br />to discuss matters relating to community aesthetics, including fences, <br />illegal vehicles -in driveways and similar issues.
