Watson, applicant (707 -05) <br />Report: Chief Building Official and Community Development Director 10/6/86 <br />Affidavits of Publication of Notice of Hearing and of Mailing are on file. <br />Chief Building Official LaTorra presented the subject report and called <br />attention to copies of the plot plan and the city sewer lot line maps <br />indicating the proposed location of the building. Mr. LaTorra indicated <br />power and water sources and used photographs of the Cedar Street property and <br />adjacent buildings to illustrate his remarks, noting PG &E power lines may or <br />may not have to be moved. <br />Mayor Claire declared the public hearing open at 8:02 p.m. <br />Marc Watson, 1418 Middlefield Road, applicant, suggested the rehabilitated <br />house will improve the Cedar Street neighborhood, and stated he is talking to <br />PG &E about whether or not the power line will have to be moved. In response <br />to question, Mr. Watson said that if he is to be required to improve the <br />street, he cannot afford the house moving project. <br />Gladys Woodhams, 601 Melville, Palo Alto, representing the Historic Resources <br />Committee, said the subject house has historic significance and is known as <br />the Rolla house. Mrs. Woodhams suggested the restoration of the house would <br />make it an asset to the City. <br />Mayor Claire invited anyone else who wished to speak to do so.
