MINUTE ORDER NO. 86 -199 <br />John Murray, 568 Seahorse Lane, said he would live near the proposed 49er <br />facility and believes the proposed plan is very imaginative and that Redwood <br />Shores homeowners will be very pleased with the park and having the 49ers <br />located in their area. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />1. Councilman Britschgi reminded Council that a joint meeting with the Port <br />Commission is to be held annually and suggested a date be set. <br />MEMO 10/30/86 <br />2. Councilman Greenalch, representative to the San Mateo County Regional <br />Planning Committee reported that a mi eeting of the Transportation <br />Subcommittee will be held at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 1986, in the <br />County Annex at which time jurisdictions with FAU (Federal Aid Urban) <br />projects are to present them. Councilman Greenalch said he is unable to <br />attend, but recommended that his alternate, Planning Commissioner Jack <br />Castle, attend as well as a City staff person. He also reported another <br />meeting of the Subcommittee will be held for final decisions on the projects <br />to be selected at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 1986, in the Burlingame <br />Public Library, stating he can not attend that meeting and urging that the <br />City be presented by a staff member. <br />MEMO 10/30/86 <br />3. Councilwoman LaBerge called attention to the Redwood City Symposium to be <br />held at Canada College on November 8, 1986. <br />M /S: LaBerge /Stangel to allocate up to $200 to underwrite the cost of $8.00 <br />each of up to 25 Redwood City residents who might not otherwise be able to <br />attend the Symposium on November 8, 1986. <br />City Attorney Schricker advised that some criteria should be established with <br />regard to those eligible to receive the tickets to be provided at City cost. <br />AMENDMENT TO MOTION: Councilwoman LaBerge, with the consent of her second, <br />amended the motion to make the tickets available to the first 25 persons who <br />apply who are 50 years of age or more and members of established, recognized <br />City groups such as AARP, Fun After Fifty, Fair Oaks Senior Center, etc. <br />Nita Spanqler, 970 Edgewood Road, suggested Council should not discriminate <br />in underwriting the cost of tickets on the basis of age and that "brown bag" <br />lunches are acceptable. <br />The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
