Item No. 1 (continued) <br />Concerns expressed by some members of the audience who had indicated they <br />own corner lots included concern about security; costs related to variance <br />application process; insufficiency of a three -foot fence to confine a dog; <br />and the belief that hedges should be regulated the same as constructed <br />fences. <br />Mr. Schroeter pointed out that there is a common misunderstanding that a <br />fence has to be built on the property line, and noted that if there is a <br />proper setback, the fence can be higher than three feet. He said that in <br />most cases, the public right of way is one foot behind the sidewalk, and as <br />much as five feet in some cases. <br />M /S: Britschgi /Greenalch to request the Planning Commission to review <br />fence regulations, including hedges, and report back to Council with a <br />recommendation. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 86 -214 <br />Reference was made to the outstanding citations for fence violations, <br />including one pending court case. Boat and Trailer Parking <br />Senior Planner Patterson referred to his report of November 6, 1986, and <br />circulated sets of photographs showing typical violations in various parts <br />of the City, with respect to parking of boats and trailers. <br />With regard to enforcement, Acting City Manager Schroeter advised that it <br />is primarily through response to complaints of neighbors, and observation <br />of other violations in the same area. <br />A member of the audience commented that there is no place in Redwood City <br />where recreation vehicles can be stored. <br />Jo int.
