ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
1. Denise Bradley, 3125 Hoover, spoke regarding the threat of floods again
in their area.
Bonnie Miller, 1224 5th Avenue, inquired re the status of the Bayfront Canal
and asked when the residents will be able to vote on an assessment district.
Discussion followed regarding the ownership and responsibility of the gates.
CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire said it is the consensus of Council that this
Council wants to proceed with a plan of action immediately that eliminates
Atherton from the game plan, that they will try to still work with Atherton.
Council wants staff to furnish them with the necessary information, such as
the cost and what can they do about the Bayfront Canal.
Memo 12/15/86
Mayor Claire said he would talk to the Mayor of Atherton.
Lu Ann Rocklewitz, 3142 Hoover, advised that the Board of Realtors will not
put the area on a flood zone in their books because they say it is "man
made." She said they were not looking forward to another year of problems.
2. Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood, spoke to protest CABLE TV's action regarding the
four public broadcasting stations.
Ralph Nobles, 3720 Country Club Drive, spoke regarding Cable TV's action of
moving Channel 9 from its single digit number to a higher digit number.
----------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
1. Councilman Britschgi commented about the notice from the County Board of
Supervisors, received after the fact, regarding the dedication of the new
convalescent facility on Woodside Road. He said that about a year ago
Council requested the County to discuss with them and perhaps spread around
San Mateo County these types of social agencies and that they felt that
Redwood City has its share.
Councilman Britschgi noted further that the Board of Supervisors will be
meeting the next day and will be discussing the development of an
environmental impact report regarding the widening of Edgewood Road. He said
he was of the opinion that they know the City of Redwood City does not want
it widened and the Council has not been informed that the item was on their
agenda.
Councilman Bury responded that he would attend the meeting and take an action
of opposition regarding the widening.
Council determined that better communication is needed between the Board of
Supervisors and Council.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
Reg.Mtg.
12/15/86
Page 5
MINUTE BOOK NO. 46
Page No. 502
