<br />16.25 <br /> <br />Deferred Compensation <br /> <br />Effective October 1,2002, the City shall contribute an amount equal to two percent (2%) of base monthly <br />salary to a deferred compensation plan offered by the City. <br /> <br />Employees on no-pay status will have this amount prorated based on total number of hours of no-pay <br />status during the pay period. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 17 <br /> <br />HOURS OF WORK <br /> <br />The regular workweek shall be forty (40) hours per week. The regular workweek for Battalion Chief on a shift <br />schedule shall be fifty-six (56) hours per week. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 18 <br /> <br />LEAVE PROVISIONS <br /> <br />18.1 <br /> <br />Sick Leave <br /> <br />18.1.1 <br /> <br />Sick leave with pay shall be granted to all regular employees except as hereinafter provided, at <br />the rate of one (1) working day for each full calendar month of service. Upon satisfactory <br />completion of six (6) months of the probationary period, an employee shall be credited with six <br />(6) days sick leave and shall accumulate sick leave thereafter at the rate of one (1) day for each <br />calendar month of service. Battalion Chiefs who work a fifty-six (56) hour work week shall <br />accrue sick leave at the rate of twenty-four (24) hours per month. Battalion Chiefs who work a <br />forty (40) hour work week shall accrue sick leave at the rate of eight (8) hours a month. At <br />retirement, Battalion Chiefs assigned to a forty (40) hour work week will have their accrued sick <br />leave balance converted to a balance based on the fifty-six (56) hour rate and the retirement sick <br />leave buyout will be paid using the fifty-six (56) hour rate of pay. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Section 18.9, an employee may also request family and medical leave if he/she is <br />unable to perform his/her job because of a serious health condition, or needs to care for a child, <br />following birth or placement, or needs to care for a spouse, domestic partner, child or parent <br />who is seriously ill. <br /> <br />18.1.2 <br /> <br />Sick leave shall be defined as the non-job related absence from work due to illness, bodily injury, <br />exposure to contagious disease, and caring of family members whose illness required the <br />employee's care. <br /> <br />18.1.3.1 Unused sick leave may be accumulated to maximum sick leave credits of one-thousand two- <br />hundred (1200) hours. For Battalion Chiefs who work a fifty-six (56) hour work week unused sick <br />leave may be accumulated to a maximum sick leave credit of two-thousand four-hundred (2400) <br />hours. <br /> <br />19 <br />
