Item No. 1 (continued) <br />Mayor Britschgi presented the Plaque for Distinguished Service to Herb Weiss, <br />commending him for his many years of service to the community and wished him <br />_ many happy rewarding years of retirement. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />Mayor Britschgi displayed a framed certificate received by the City of <br />Redwood City as a Finalist for the All American Cities Award. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />Mayor Britschgi reported that an article written by Human Services Director <br />Irizarry on behalf of the City had been printed in the International City <br />Managers Association Management Information Services newsletter, and ours was <br />one of six cities in the United States to be selected for publication of its <br />story, which related to reduction of Hispanic youth unemployment. Mayor <br />Britschgi congratulated Mr. Irizarry on behalf of Council. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />2. Public Hearing - Application to rezone 6.0 acres from <br />"IR" (Industrial -- Restricted) District to "CP" <br />(Commercial Park) District; 10 acres from "IR" <br />(Industrial -- Restricted) District to "TP" (Tidal Plain) <br />District, and 4,100 feet of land in "IR" District to <br />"TP -W" (Tidal Plain - -Water Combining) District; located <br />at 101 Marine World Parkway - Campeau Corporation, <br />applicant (203 -02) <br />Planning Commission record transmitted 5/6/85. <br />Affidavits of Publication of Notice of Hearing and of Mailing on file. <br />Planning Director Schroeter referred to a slide of a map showing the subject <br />area, pointing out the locations for the proposed development and other uses, <br />including a hotel with an interior lagoon, and noting that the rezoning is <br />complementary to an already approved Planned Development Permit. <br />Mayor Britschgi declared the public hearing open at 7:45 p.m. <br />Don Warren, Redwood Shores, Inc., recommended approval of the rezoning, but <br />suggested that Council continue to recognize in its future deliberations the <br />concerns of current residents and neighboring properties in Redwood Shores <br />regarding the impact on them of those decisions relating to traffic and <br />density. <br />Mayor Britschgi invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so.
