Letter from Peninsula Celebration Association dated June 11, 1985, requesting
waiver of permit requirements of the Fire Department regarding fireproofing
of floats in the Independence Day parade.
Pete Hughes, 3449 Hoover Street, referred to the letter from Sally Morrison,
President of P.C.A., and indicated that float entries have dropped radically
because of the Fire Code requirements; that other cities either do not have,
or do not enforce, the same restrictions, and asked whether there is some
action the Council can take to waive the requirements for this year's
parade.
Discussion followed, and in reply to questions by Council, City Attorney
Schricker indicated that it appeared that it would require an amendment to
the Code, which would take weeks, and that there is no justification to
consider this appropriate for emergency legislation.
M /S: Claire /Mosher to refer the request of Peninsula Celebration Association
regarding waiver of permit requirements for fireproofing of parade floats to
staff for review and report back to Council as soon as possible.
Carried unanimously by voice vote.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 85 -86
Reg.Mtg.
6/17/85
Page 9
MINUTE BOOK NO. 4 5
Page No. 473
