Intra - Governmental Services <br />General Services Director Mott highlighted changes in Building Services and <br />explained the proposed increase in custodial services to the Senior Center <br />the Library, and the Municipal Services Center. General Services <br />Superintendant Jones explained the minor maintenance services to be <br />provided by custodians. <br />General Services Director Mott explained the Vehicle and Equipment <br />Replacement Program and responded to questions regarding the equipment <br />review process. <br />Mayor Britschgi arrived at 4:55 p.m. and assumed the chair. <br />Mr. Smith noted the Council had received a supplemental report on Data <br />Services needs. Data Services Manager Gipe reviewed the status of the data <br />processing programs and explained the need for additional programmer <br />positions. <br />Finance Director Tasseff reviewed insurance costs and the increase in costs <br />resulting from "deep pocket" rulings. <br />General Services Director Mott reviewed the Communications budget and <br />described the inadequacies of the current telephone system. <br />Mayor Britschgi requested that the Senior Citizens Center parking study <br />include a report on the feasibility of purchasing the Hetch Hetchy property <br />at the corner of Hawes and Madison. <br />Capital Improvement Program <br />Assistant to City Manager Margolis noted that the Capital Improvement <br />Program was a revision of the outline adopted by Council at the Midyear <br />Budget Session. Due to changes in the Capital Outlay and Gas Tax Funds, <br />certain projects had to be delayed. <br />Facilities <br />Discussion ensued regarding the scheduling of construction of the Redwood <br />Shores Fire Station. Mr. Smith indicated that building valuation and <br />population at Redwood Shores had not yet reached the' predetermined levels <br />to mandate construction of a fire station. Fire Chief O'Brien indicated <br />that the arrangement with South County Fire District was adequate, and that <br />operating costs of a new fire station would be approximately $.5 million. <br />Mayor Britschgi determined that a consensus had been reached that the <br />construction of a fire station at Redwood Shores should be reviewed as a <br />high priority item at the Midyear Budget Review in February. <br />MEMO <br />Bu dg et.
