Facilities (continued) <br />Funding for the Senior Center Addition was discussed. Parks and Recreation <br />Director Griffiths indicated that $1.2 million in grant funds would be <br />available on a county -wide basis. Councilman Chandler asked for a report _ <br />on availability of funds and the criteria for distribution, once the <br />information becomes available to staff. <br />Mayor Britschgi asked that a report be given to Council on the plans for <br />the Senior Center addition. <br />Parks and Recreation <br />Discussion followed on the postponement of the expansion of Garret Memorial <br />Park. Parks and Recreation Director Griffiths indicated that the Park was <br />popular for summer programs. <br />Mayor Britschgi determined that it was a general consensus that the Garrett <br />Memorial Park expansion be moved back and that Hoover Park Lighting be <br />moved up to 1988 -89. In addition, the Hoover Park Lighting project should <br />be reviewed in February for consideration for earlier implementation. <br />MEMO <br />Assistant to City Manager Margolis noted that Portside Park Improvements <br />had been moved back. <br />Discussion followed on the need for improvements at Marlin Park. Parks and <br />Recreation Director Griffiths indicated that he had developed a tree <br />planting proposal that would eliminate most of the complaints. <br />It was moved by Councilman Bury and seconded by Councilman Chandler that <br />$12,000 be appropriated to accomplish the tree planting in 1985 -86. The <br />motion was approved unanimously. <br />Transportation <br />In response to a question from Mayor Britschgi, Public Works Director <br />Addiego stated that the Broadway Sidewalk Repair program has been <br />rescheduled to the Fall. <br />Assistant to City Manager Margolis noted the Pavement Management Program <br />has been reduced from $1.6 million to $1 million per year; that the <br />Veterans Boulevard Spot Reconstruction has been moved up, and that the <br />James Avenue Reconstruction has been moved back. <br />(The Council broke for dinner at 6:00 p.m. and reconvened at 6:30 p.m. Vice Mayor <br />Mosher left at 6:30 p.m.) <br />Mayor Britschgi determined that consensus had been reached that the Redwood <br />Shores Skyway /Marriott Traffic Signal Project should be moved from <br />1986 -87 to 1985 -86, and that the project cost of $181,000 be taken out of <br />Facilities Fees. <br />Budget.
