Richard Kirchner, 750 York Street, San Francisco, architect for
Boardwalk Volkswagon, described rehabilitation and landscaping plans
for the building.

Bob Kissick, 10 Skywood Way, Woodside, President of Boardwalk
Volkswagon, reported that Nicholas Dempsey of Safeway had called
today, but they have had no time to discuss plans for the property.

Jamie Kopf, Vice President, Boardwalk Volkswagon, stated he had filed
plans for the building. In response to question, Mr. Kopf indicated
he would expect to sell new and used automobiles on about a "30 new
40 used" basis; that he would be willing to agree to consider
consolidation of his project with the Safeway group development; and
that he expects to close escrow this week.

Mr. Schricker described the nature of a participation agreement and
stated that no exclusive right to negotiate agreement has been
requested.

Dorothy Philbrick, 3641 McNulty Way, Director, Kainos Home, reported
receiving financial and other assistance for the Training Center from
Mr. Kissick and urged he be given all consideration possible.

In response to question, Planning Director Schroeter confirmed that
new car sales only are allowed in the Commercial Business District
which is the present zoning of the subject property. Mr. Schroeter
also described certain conditions placed upon a use permit and
architectural permits for remodeling issued in another redevelopment
area which spell out the recognition of that fact and the possible
effects of future development according to plan there.

Donald Maynor, attorney representing Boardwalk Volkswagon, said his
client was not aware that only new cars could be sold on the subject
Commercial Business District site. Mr. Kissick confirmed the
statement.

MIS: ClairelBritschgi to continue the consideration of a
participation agreement for the proposed project at 901 El Camino
Real by Boardwalk Volkswagon for a 3D-day period and that it is
incumbent upon the Safeway group to provide to the City the best
possible presentation at that time so that Council can make a
decision on the matter.

The motion carried on the following roll call vote:

Ayes:

Councilmen Britschgi, Bury, Claire, Mosher, Rhodes, and Mayor
Stangel

Noes:

Councilman Biagi

MINUTE ORDER NO. 84-66

Redev.
