Discussion followed concerning the City's request to agencies receiving City funds <br />for financial statements and a statement as to the anticipated use of the funds <br />and the lack of such information from the Chamber of Commerce. <br />Jack Castle, President, Chamber of Commerce, reported that the Chamber is working <br />on new projects to upgrade the City and obtain partial support from other sources. <br />Mr. Castle said the Chamber is trying to encourage quality firms to develop here, <br />and he can provide figures on that program. <br />Larry Buckmaster, Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce, stated that the City's <br />contribution is used as a portion of several programs, all related to economic <br />development of the City, and it is difficult to be specific about amounts <br />allocated to each, but he can provide figures to Council. <br />Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood Road, said she would like to have more citizen <br />involvement in Chamber affairs. <br />The motion failed by majority voice vote which Mayor Britschgi determined to be 2 <br />to 5. <br />M /S: Chandler /Mosher to withhold approval of the proposed allocation to the <br />Chamber of Commerce pending receipt of detailed financial information as to the <br />proposed use of the allocation requested. MINUTE ORDER NO. 84 -97 <br />In response to question, Mr. Smith stated that figures from other cities in the <br />County suggest Redwood City's allocation to the Convention & Visitors Bureau is <br />comparable. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />Council adjourned at 12:30 p.m. to a lunchtime executive session for the purpose <br />of considering labor relations. <br />Council reconvened to the Budget Study Session at 1:15 p.m. <br />TRANSPORTATION (pp 29 -36) <br />Director of Public Works Addiego presented the program, noting that his department <br />will work with the Parks and Recreation Department in a sidewalk /tree improvement <br />program which is included in the Capital Improvement Program. <br />Mr. Addiego and City Manager Smith commented regarding the street sweeping program <br />and attention was called to City Council-action of June 4, 1984, concerning <br />approaches to the problems presented. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SUPPORT AND PROTECTION, (pp 37 -46) <br />Budget Study Session <br />6/9/84 <br />Page 5 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 45 <br />Page No. 37 <br />
